"He's already in such a state, and you're still asking him for money!"
Connor's eyes narrowed as he listened to the strong voice. His own voice was soft and low as he said, "Let's put it on the tab for now."
Ray couldn't be bothered to respond. He sat down and started eating angrily. But it was hard to keep his food down with two lovebirds flaunting their affection right in front of him. He gave up, heading to the kitchen to grab a thermal container. In full view of Flora and Connor, he began packing up the food.
He nearly emptied the pot of the best and most nutritious pork rib soup, packed a vegetable dish, and a fish. He was polite enough to leave Flora's favorite sweet and sour pork ribs and sautéed prawns untouched. Once the container was packed to the brim, he put the lid on and walked out with it.
"I'm outta here! Won't be a third wheel anymore."
Connor barely glanced at him and then told Moss to drive him back before resuming peeling shrimp for Flora. It was clearly a routine for them. Flora tilted her head, giving him a knowing look.
That night, Flora stayed over at Bayshore, and the next morning, Connor personally drove her to school.
---
The news that Flora was going to represent the Computer Science department in the intercollegiate computer competition had already spread through the Medical department. Eilies and Cynthia were genuinely in awe of her!
After morning classes, Flora received a message from Ivan. He mentioned they were going out for lunch to introduce her to everyone, and in the afternoon, the official training for the competition would begin.
Ivan came to pick Flora up on his scooter. The University of Maple Grove was pretty big, and walking from the Medical department to the Computer Science department would take twenty minutes – a total waste of time. The school didn’t allow students to drive sports cars, anything with four wheels was off-limits, so only motorcycles or electric bikes were allowed.
Luckily, Flora almost always wore pants unless she was with Connor, so riding wasn't awkward.
"Here. I'm pretty good with the bike," Ivan said, smiling as he handed her a silver helmet.
Flora checked out his bike, "Nice ride you got there."
