"Shouldn’t the boss be back by now?"
After finishing a game, Beck threw down his cards and checked his watch. It was already 5:40 PM.
"He should be back any minute—"
Moss didn't even get to finish his sentence before a car horn blared outside. Instantly, he jumped up, and Beck, along with their two bodyguards, followed suit.
A sleek, dark blue Maserati rolled up and came to a stop outside the villa. Moss and Beck exchanged confused glances. Whose car was that? It definitely wasn't their boss's.
The car door swung open, and a pair of stylish boots hit the ground. The moment they saw the woman’s face, Moss and Beck’s expressions shifted dramatically.
What was Ms. Abbey doing here!?
Abbey strode purposefully toward them, Elijah at her side, flanked by a squad of bodyguards. There was no avoiding this. As she approached, Moss took the initiative to greet her, very politely, "Ms. Abbey."
Abbey nodded curtly, "Where’s Connor?"
Knowing Moss was Connor’s right-hand man, she showed him a bit of courtesy. Moss was about to answer when Beck jumped in hurriedly, "The boss went to pick up Ms. Flora from school. They’re probably grocery shopping now. They should be back soon."
He was the number one fan of the boss and Ms. Flora! After saying that, Abbey should get the hint and leave, right?
As Beck finished speaking, the atmosphere tensed up, turning awkward. Abbey’s face darkened. Mentioning Flora in front of her—wasn’t Beck just trying to rub salt in the wound? And grocery shopping? That distinguished man also goes grocery shopping? And with Flora?
