"Ma'am..." The butler hesitated, unsure of what to say.
"Mom!" Kruz cried out, his voice raw with anguish. "How could you be so heartless? That was my only racing car. Did you really have to smash it?"
"If you keep whining, I'll lock you up!" Amanda stood up, her voice firm. "I've told you countless times, no racing. Do you have any idea how dangerous it is? Do you want to end up missing an arm or a leg before you get it?"
Kruz pouted, clearly not convinced.
Amanda, not wanting to continue the argument, turned and marched upstairs.
The butler leaned in and whispered, "Young master, I'll take care of your car for now. Please don't be mad at the madam."
Kruz's father had suffered severe injuries from racing, which eventually led to his death. Amanda's reluctance to let him race was understandable.
Kruz stayed silent, still seething.
"Hey, big dummy, got scolded by Mom again?" A playful female voice rang out. A girl in a yellow cotton jacket and gray wide-leg pants walked in, looking strikingly similar to Kruz, almost as if they were twins.
"Ethan, call me brother!" Kruz grumbled. Big dummy, really?
Ethan ignored him and asked nonchalantly, "I think I saw Connor's car just now. Is he here?"
"Yes, Mr. Connor is here," the butler replied.
"Did he bring a woman with him?" She had caught a glimpse of someone in his car.
"It's Miss Flora."
Oh. That woman.
Ethan pursed her lips. She didn't have a good impression of Flora. Heard she was going to participate in some medical competition. Hmm... maybe she should go watch.
...
Connor took Flora out for dinner before dropping her off at the hotel. He got out first and opened the door for her.
"Go on in."
The weather on Lone Island was freezing, with biting winds that cut to the bone. Connor's hair was tousled by the wind.
