Chairman Chen, at fifty-six, wore the marks of a long battle with illness, his hair completely white and his frame a bit too lean for comfort.
He moved with a purposeful stride, supported by an aide, while a massive fire truck followed closely behind.
"Chairman Chen!"
Spotting him, Tommy rushed forward to meet him.
With a simple gesture, Chairman Chen signaled for the fire truck to head towards the White estate to tackle the blazing inferno.
But Moss and Beck stood firm, blocking the way. They needed Connor's go-ahead to let the fire truck pass.
"Connor, that's enough," Chairman Chen's eyes were like deep, empty wells, fixing on Connor with a stern warning. He had already set the White estate on fire; what more did he want? Was he really willing to risk lives?
"Abbey has to pay," Connor's voice was rough and low, dripping with a cold determination. This woman had crossed the line by harming his Flora.
"The White family may have wronged you, but you've made your point. Let's not make this messier for everyone," Chairman Chen said, his voice calm but laced with an undeniable chill. "Are you ready to take on the White family and all of Lone Island?"
"Heh... Why not?"
What was the harm in making a few enemies? For Flora, he would do whatever it took.
Chairman Chen's expression turned serious. It had been years, yet Connor was still as wild and unpredictable as ever.
Back then, Chairman Chen had admired Connor, even thinking of bypassing the elders of the major families to name him as his successor. But Connor's untamed nature shone through when he endured a month of confinement and torment in the lab without breaking. Fearing the consequences, Chairman Chen had let him go.
The Connor of old, detached and indifferent, seemed to care about nothing. Now, his deep attachment to a woman caught Chairman Chen off guard.
