After getting home and showering, I slept. 

It’s been a week since I was arrested, and I’ve avoided Eros. Sure he said he didn’t believe I did, but at that moment, he stood in front of me and said the security saw me putting it in my bag. 

He believed them. He might have changed his mind afterwards, but he honestly believed I would do that. 

“Come on, Alexis, you’re miserable, just speak to him.” Clara looks at me. “He comes here to try and sort things, and you disappear and refuse,” she says.

We sit in silence, and I wonder if he’s waiting until we’re somewhere I can’t run from before talking. I watch the door open, and he helps me out. Great, we’re back at his. 

I glance at the building. Going in could lead to this whole shit again. 

“Please, just come talk to me,” he grips my hand and guides me inside. Getting to the top floor, we step out. Olivia is sitting there, her eyes widen when she sees me. 

“Leave Olivia,” Eros says, and I watch her hesitate before rushing out. I walk in and sit down, ensuring my hands are visible constantly. 

“You’ve avoided me for an entire week, Alexis,” he says. 

“I had things to consider,” I reply. I did, like what happened and what it meant. 

“I am sorry. I woke up, and the necklace was gone. I sent out a message for everyone to watch for it and call the police if they

saw someone with it. I didn’t know. I was leaving for a meeting when someone said you were seen leaving and putting it in your bag. I didn’t agree to you getting arrested, so I rushed there, but the police were already there,” he explains. 

“You still thought it was me, Eros. I was begging you to believe me, and you just said someone had seen me putting it in my bag: That hurt, you looked at me like everyone else fucking looks at me when they learn what I do to make money,” I say. 

“I…” He sighs and nods. “I’m sorry, I was so sure they wouldn’t find it then it was there. I was shocked, I knew you hadn’t, but I couldn’t find any way for that necklace to be in your bag. I’m sorry, I fucking tried Alexis. I told them there, and then you wouldn’t have taken it. He said you had to be taken in, so I spent eighteen hours waiting for you to get out.” He moves and sits in front of me. 

“You might believe me Eros, but someone put it there. What is the next thing they do? How far will this go, and how many times am I going to be arrested for something I didn’t do?” I ask. He doesn’t even know who did it. “The thought of coming here, or being near you just to be accused of stealing again worries me,” I admit. 

“Nothing else will happen, I swear, and if it does, I will know. I turned the cameras on. Please, just consider giving me a second chance.” He sits looking at me. 

I want to but fear right now makes me want to run away. He

grips my chin and kisses me gently. “I’m sorry. I didn’t doubt you, Alexis. I was just told it was in your bag. Please,” he says, and I nod. 

His arms pull me into his and onto his lap. It’s weird, I did miss him this week, but letting him in was scary. He pulls me closer, and I kiss him. I need to just hope if anything happens again, the cameras will prove it wasn’t me. 

If only he had them on before, maybe we would have known who it was. I carry on kissing him, and as my hands remove his clothes, his hands stroke along my body, pulling my clothes from it.
