Chapter 174
I hide away all weekend without an issue, I guess that is down to practice though, the days I spent isolated not speaking a word as a punishment. It made this weekend easier. I know I can’t avoid them all weekend, I leave today, so I have to see them.
Slowly opening the door I step out and walk to the stairs, I stop upon hearing them speak.
“Everything. I made sure James knew. It’s one way to stop it.” Demitri speaks.
“Then what? Stops it there but where is next Demitri, consider it.” I sit and listen to Marcello. “You would have no idea. You can put the word out that might help you hear where it happens, but then there is a risk he hears as well.”
“Then you two give me some fucking ideas.” Demitri sounds annoyed, more frustrated actually.
“We have none, here we can stop it, and protect her but over that line, you are declaring war on cities if you intervene.” Calix explains.
I know I need to move.
“I made it worse, right? Just say it.” I hear Demitri and now know he is talking about me.
“How was it mean to work Demitri? Come on, she comes here a mess, you pay to have her for the weekend and she goes back all squeaky clean and like a new fresh woman. Paying for an hour or two so she sleeps fine, but this weekend?”
Chapter 174
I stand up hearing Marcello’s words, and slowly walking down the stairs I watch as they stop talking, and suddenly change the
conversation.
“Delivery is tonight,” Calix explains while glancing at his phone.
“About time, it’s late,” Marcello states. I watch as they turn and watch me walk towards them. I feel nervous and I don’t know why. I sit down and stay silent as they talk, but while they talk I can see they are discussing something entirely different on their phones.
They are trying to make the conversation sound normal but their voices become louder. I know I need to apologise, so I take this opportunity, hoping I break up this argument they are clearly having through
messages.
“I’m sorry.” My words are quiet, and all three turn and stare at me shocked. Before they can argue or speak I continue. “I should never and looked in that room. I should have kept walking once I saw. I was sold to you for the weekend, the rules apply here that are at home, I shouldn’t have left my room without your approval. I was yours for the weekend.” I shouldn’t have, and had I stuck to the routine I was given I wouldn’t have seen.
“Are you fucking stupid?”
I jump at the loudness of Demitri’s voice.
“I didn’t pay for you for the weekend to do what I say. I paid for you to have a fucking break. I wouldn’t have done it if you could keep your damn eyes open for longer than ten seconds.”
I feel my body try to camouflage into the chair and fail. “I’m sorry.” They are the only words my brain can find right now.
Chapter 174
“Stop! Shit wouldn’t be so bad if you would just stand up for yourself. You want to live, fight to fucking live Daisy. You want food, fight for it, don’t just roll over like a damn mutt would.” His words sting and I watch as he jumps up, my body jumping and moving away from him.
He doesn’t come towards me though, instead, he turns and walks off. My body shakes and I fight back the tears, confusion swarming inside of me.
“I’ll drop her off, you speak to him.” Calix states, and I watch as Marcello leaves. I don’t move, and watch as Calix grabs his keys, walking to the door he holds it open for me. I don’t argue, I walk out and follow him down and into the car.
He doesn’t speak, and after a few minutes, he turns to me. Holding out the money for Dean, I place it in my pocket.
“Look, what Demitri just did was wrong, he is not in the best place. right now, but there is some truth to his words.”
I nod hearing him, watching as he stops in traffic. “I know. I’m a mutt. I get reminded daily, thanks.”
“Don’t, he fucked up there and didn’t mean that, you know he didn’t.” Calix shouts.
“Fine. let’s be honest, he is right. I should fight.” My words sound numb, he turns to me as I open the door and get out of the car. Not stopping or giving him a chance, I run through the cars, not stopping until I am sure I am far enough away from him.
My hand goes into my pocket, and I feel for the money there. I can. escape, sure the money won’t last long, but if I can find a way to stay hidden, and live in a damn tent if needed until the contract is void, I
will.
Chapter 174
I must walk for hours, my feet kill, and I am freezing. I never planned this out. I don’t have clothes, I’m in lingerie and have no idea about this city. I don’t know if I am getting further into the centre of it or close to the edge, or walking in circles. I don’t even know if I am close to Dean’s. Which worries me.
I sit down by the road, unsure of what the hell I should do. Sure I have five thousand in my pocket but even I know it will cost that and more. to pay someone off at the border to let me pass without saying. So, I am stuck in this city?
“Get the hell in this car now!” I jump hearing Dean, turning he is waiting.
