217–The Night After Sex 

Nora: 

I woke up after having intercourse with him and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I was happy the night before, but now I was 

wondering if I had made a mistake. He didn’t apologize, nor did he talk about leaving April.. 

He didn’t ask me if I would leave Brody either. 

I felt like a fool as I stood under the water and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I wasn’t dating Brody for the sake of love or having a future with him. And he knew that too. We had talked about it, and I had told him that I was doing it to clear my name, yet I felt like I was cheating on him. 

“Akira! Do you hate me for it?” I asked, remembering how much she had endured when they hurt her. 

She remained silent for a while before responding, “Do you think I am? I felt the best with my mate in my arms last night.” 

I pressed my lips into a tight line and groaned. Now, if Ryker didn’t leave April, we would be in even greater pain. 

After showering, I left the bathroom to try and get some more sleep. That’s when I saw Ryker, already dressed and standing next to the door, his back facing me. 

“Just 

go back to sleep. It was probably nothing, okay?” His voice was 

low and soft.

“I’ve called the guards, and they will stand outside your door to keep you safe,” he added, making my heart pound. 

Who was he talking to? 

“Okay, bye!” He hung up and turned around, our eyes meeting. 

“April was worried; she heard some growls outside her mansion.” He didn’t even let me ask who he was talking to. It felt like he was doing it 

on purpose. 

I couldn’t take my eyes off him, yet he didn’t get the hint. “She is also shaken up,” he added, then shoved his phone into his pocket. 

“What we did what did it mean for us?” I pointed toward the bed, a heavy sigh escaping my lips as I asked him. 

I watched his chest swell and then return to normal before he answered, “It shouldn’t change anything.” 

The minute he said that, I felt like I had been struck by lightning. My eyes filled with tears, but I quickly looked away from him. 

I had tried my best to make this relationship work. But he ruined it all for me. He ruined it all when he made sure to look me in the eyes and tell me it was nothing. 

“You should take some contraceptives in the morning, and that will help-” Before he could finish, I shushed him in the middle. 

Thank you, I don’t need your advice. I know what to do,” I hissed, 

watching him raise an eyebrow at me. Before he could say something. else, I jumped into bed and shut my eyes tightly. 

I hated every second of being awake, knowing he was in the room with.

But it was the day after the storm. I hoped for a good start and planned. not to dwell on the sex that felt so good until it was over and I had a talk with Ryker. 

“Good morning,” Ryker’s voice from the corner of the room jolted me into full awareness. For a moment, I was startled, but then I remembered that he had stayed after breaking my heart. 

“Hmm,” I rolled out of bed and headed for the bathroom. 

“Not a proper greeting,” he smirked and when I did not respond to him, I heard him groan. 

“I’ll head back to my room now. And stop letting your wolf out and going into the woods. It’s not safe out there,” his knowledge of my outings in the woods with Akira unsettled me. 

He didn’t linger and left soon afterward. After showering and slipping into a brown shirt and blue jeans, I joined them for breakfast. 

Ryker was the only one absent. I assumed he must be taking a nap after staying awake the whole night and crushing my hopes after having fun.
