Chapter 235 

The first hour I was fine, then boredom set in. Cal had given me work to do for the businesses and such, but even that isn’t distracting my mind. I go over tomorrow, wondering who it could be. Then, I saw Cal‘ s face this morning. It was a look I hadn’t seen before. 

One that had me questioning the real motive behind giving me my 

freedom. It seems weird he would do it, especially now, when he knew freedom. It seems weird he w I didn’t want it. Something was there, I saw it on his face I just can’t work it out. 

I stay in the room with Troy and the guys, when I need the toilet two of them stand in the hall waiting. just to be sure I am safe. It makes me laugh however, they would know before anyone got up here. We’re on the top floor, and I know there are guards at the bottom and also on. some other levels. All entrances have guards on them too. 

Sitting. I listen to Troy talking, he’s on the phone, sounding rather annoyed. His eyes glance at me as he talks. Something has happened, I watch as he finishes his call. 

“What’s happened, are they okay?” I don’t know why but something tells me it’s about the brothers and I am worried now. 

“They are fine. Apparently, some of the safe houses have been trashed, someone clearly was looking for something. Also, someone tried getting into the offices. Calix knows, so no doubt is sorting it now.” 

“Safehouses?” I don’t get why people would break into the safe houses. 

“Whoever it was obviously was hoping they kept some business and 

personal stuff there. They didn’t, so their efforts were wasted. It means they will be about an hour later than they said though.” 

I want to complain but I can’t, and won’t. They are doing all this to try and keep me safe. I find myself trying to focus on work, just so that I can distract myself and stop thinking about everything. 

Troy keeps talking to me. trying to keep me company. Apparently, Cal told him he was okay to talk to me and keep me entertained, yet I kept refusing, he was watching over the guards, so for him to be with me and laughing is wrong. 

Working. I look at the clock, wondering how much longer they will be. A weird noise has me turn to the door and I hear a thump. 

Troy drags me up, pushing me down the hall. 

“What is it?” I look back watching as the door flies open. 

“Go through D’s torture room, out the other door and fucking run!” I keep running towards the room. 

“What is happening?” I look at him. 

“Sounded like a silencer, move it because I can’t see the front door anymore.” He keeps pushing me, I hear it again and turn to see Troy on the floor, running to him I try and pull him up. 

“Go Daisy!” 

I shake my head at him, he’s hurt. “Please Troy, I can’t leave you!” He’s a friend. I can’t just go. 

“Daisy, fucking run and save yourself now Otherwise, I die for 

nothing.” He moves pulling out the gun and handing it to me. Taking it 

I run through D’s room, closing and locking the door I run through the other. As I get to the garage I sneak around the cars seeing the exit. The guards are dead. All of them, how? I begin searching my pockets. unable to find my phone, I left it on the table. Shit. 

Rushing out the door I begin running down the street, someone calling my name, turning I look back not recognising the person. I keep running, going through ginnels. I remember the way to the offices. If I can get there then I can get hold of the brothers. 

A hand grabs me, screaming I fight against them. Pulling the trigger on the gun, it pushes me back slightly and I watch the guy fall to the floor. Others coming towards me, turning I continue to run, refusing to get caught. As I’m about to step out of the ginnel someone appears. His hands grab me, moving I shoot him, not giving myself to even consider the fact I just killed two men.

road, I watch the cars swerve, as I reach the opposite side I run through a shop, before bolting out the back exit. My body falls as someone lands on me. Screaming I kick out, trying to shoot nothing happens. 

Panicking I hit him with the gun repeatedly until he stops moving. pushing him from me I drop the gun and begin to run again. I hide behind bins hearing someone walking closer. I have nothing to fight, I feel my thigh, remembering I put the dagger there to taunt D with when he got home. Taking it out of the sleeve I hold it and wait. Ast soon as the man steps ahead of me I slice the back of his knees, running through I find myself chased by someone else, the cars stopping as I run across the road. Something hits me, and I feel darkness spread, I try to keep running but I collapse, unable to wake up fully as I feel someone carrying me.. 

“Take her, get her out of the city and quick.” I try and shake my head to wake myself up but fail, I can’t let them get me out of the city. I keep 

trying to force myself to wake up, to force the darkness to lift. I am in the car, my head resting against someone’s shoulder. I peck through my 

eyes. 

Two in front, one in the back. Okay, now I need a plan. I look at the guy next to me. He has a gun in his hand. I hold in the groan from the pain in my head. Someone hit me hard. Okay, come on Daisy, gun, how can I get it? They think I’m out cold right? I try and steady my breathing, then quickly moving I grab the gun from his hand, shooting him. I feel the blood splatter across my face. Turning, I quickly shoot both guys in the front.
