Chapter 6
Xavier’s POV
I felt all the blood drain from my body as I rushed Grandpa to the hospital, throwing the entire pack
into chaos.
After a long night of emergency treatment, he finally made it through the worst. But he fell into a coma, and no one knew when or if he would wake up.
I stood outside the hospital room, lighting a cigarette in frustration.
A nearby doctor rushed over to stop me. I grabbed him by the collar and shouted,
“You’re that guy who went on a date with Aurora!”
“How dare you show your face here?! Where’s Aurora? Did she run off to you with my kid? Get her
out here–now!”
At my words, the doctor, who had always been too timid to defy me, suddenly looked up with teary
eyes and shouted back, “You bastard! Just because you’re an Alpha with a few bucks to your name,
you think you can do whatever you want?”
“Do you even know I was the one who went with Luna to the funeral and collect her mother’s
ashes!”
“She lost her child and her mother all in one day, completely alone.”
“And you? Her husband? You weren’t by her side! You were off partying with your mistress! Are you
even human?”
The nurses came rushing over to break us apart, but their eyes held nothing but blame. Every word
they spoke carried resentment.
“Shut up! I’m your Alpha!”
Faced with the storm of accusations, I couldn’t say a single word in return. I could only order them to be quiet.
My mind was haunted by only one thing–Aurora’s face that day, eerily calm, numb to the point of emptiness.
Over the years, I had gotten used to ignoring Aurora’s feelings.
So I never realized how much grief was hidden behind that seemingly emotionless face.

A sharp pain stabbed through my chest, but I gritted my teeth and shook my head.
“You’re all just brainwashed by Aurora. I don’t believe a word of it.”
“Aurora cared so much about her mother. If her mother had really died, how could she act so calm? And the baby–she risked her life to give birth. How could she just leave like it meant nothing?”
The words left my lips calmly, but beneath them, a storm raged.
I drove home like a madman, only to be met by the hollow silence of the house. Then it hit me–that day we fought, that day I raised my hand… Aurora had come back not to reconcile, but to pack her life away.
She had come back to pack her things.
She really had made up her mind to leave.
“Aurora!”
“Aurora!”
I called her name again and again, but there was no answer.
My legs gave out beneath me and I collapsed to the floor. That’s when I saw it–the wedding–ring, lying under the table.
It was the ring I had specially designed for her shortly after we got married.
Aurora had always treasured it. Even after years of fights and arguments, she had never taken it off.
To both of us, that ring was more than just a symbol of marriage. It was proof of our once–beautiful love, a fragile thread of hope and memory.
But now, that ring was abandoned in a forgotten corner and Aurora was gone too.
A deep, suffocating sorrow settled over me.
I looked around at the familiar surroundings, but everything felt foreign now. Grief and fear closed
in from all sides.
I could feel our mate bond tearing apart, leaving behind a sharp, unbearable pain. Even my wolf whimpered in agony.
With Grandpa still unconscious and no one else to handle the pack or the company, all the responsibilities fell on my shoulders.
Chapter 6
But my heart was all on Aurora.
Back then, Grandpa handled all the company affairs while Aurora took care of the pack. I had nothing to worry about. I spent my days drinking and partying without a care in the world.
But in just one night, the two most important people in my life, my pillars of strength, were both
gone.
I can’t manage such a huge company, let alone hold together a broken home and a pack that’s lost its Luna.
Defeated, I took the coward’s way out–I ran away.
I drank myself into a stupor every day, clinging to Aurora’s photo and crying like a child.
That night, I was drunk again when someone pushed the door open.
A slender figure walked in and gently wrapped her arms around me.
Her scent was familiar, and my heart, which had been numb for so long, suddenly pounded wildly.
“Aurora?”
I held the person tightly in my arms, pouring out my longing and love.
“Aurora, you’re finally back. You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”
