Forsaking the Years of Longing novel Chapter 141

Chapter 22 "We're here talking to you in person, Caroline. That's already showing you enough respect. Don't push your luck!" Nina snapped, standing up abruptly, her face twisted with sharp disdain.

Abraham followed suit, though his tone was calmer and more measured. "Let's not make this difficult, Caroline. We know you like Jason, and we're fine with it. But dating isn't as stable as marriage. We're just here to discuss setting up a meeting between our families to finalize the wedding date. What do you think?"

I was utterly baffled. Why couldn't this family understand plain words?

Having figured out their true intentions, I let out a cold laugh.

"You've misunderstood. Jason and I have absolutely nothing to do with each other anymore because he's not good enough for me.

Not just him as a person, but his entire family. To put it simply, neither he nor the Parker family is worthy of me."

"So, I have no plans to marry him. Even if I did, it wouldn't be with him. Clear enough?"

Watching Abraham and Nina's faces go pale, I continued, "I know what you two are here to say. I used to be foolish - I get it, I understand your kind. I can guess what's on your mind."

"You've realized my status has risen and learned my true identity. Now you want to marry into my family and even expect me to use our money to bail out your company. But ask yourselves- do you really think my father would stoop so low as to acknowledge the Parker family?"

"If you're short on money, you can apply for a loan, even from our bank. Just follow the proper procedures. If you want to collaborate, hand over the plot of land in the south, and I'll pay you a price wel above your expectations. That wil help you through this rough patch."

I couldn't help but chuckle as I added, "But if you're thinking about freeloading, hoping to sell off your son for a big win - forget it. I'm not interested."
