From Divorce To Dominance novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78
Natalie looked at him, lost for words. Her pretty face was striking, but her expression was cold, almost indifferent, making her all the more irresistible. Yet, the leftover cream on her lips gave her an adorable softness that was strangely endearing.
Darren felt a bit of a tickle in his throat. Instinct overtook his reason. He grabbed her chin with one hand and brushed his fingers along her lips with the other. Sensing her attempt to pull away, he tightened his grip.
Natalie shot him a warning glance, but he ignored it, his deep-set eyes locked on her lips.
Her demeanor turned icy as she demanded, “Let go
“Don’t give me that innocent look,” he replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “I might think you’re inviting me to kiss you.”
At that, he smirked, his smile lazy and a bit suggestive, the slight arch of his eyebrows hinting at a uniquely masculine
charm.
Darren tilted his head slightly, his rough finger gently brushing against her lips. His fingertip felt cool, but the touched instantly became warm.

He watched as her lips grew increasingly pinker from the contact, moving closer and closer. Just as he was about to close the gap, a small hand landed on his shoulder.
Darreny paused, a wicked, playful smile creeping onto his face as he raised an eyebrow at her. “Playing hard to get, are we?” Natalie pushed him lightly, but he didn’t budge. With a smug lift of his eyebrow, he enjoyed the moment.-
She mimicked his expression, a glint of mischief in her eyes, then lifted her foot and stomped down hard. The eight- centimeter stiletto heel made a deep indent on his polished black shoe.
A sharp pain shot through Darren’s foot, and his ace twisted in annoyance. Just as he was about to call out the culprit, she easily pushed him away.
Taking two steps back, she tilted her chin defiantly, her tone dripping with disdain. “Mr. Luther, from now on, keep at least 3 feet between us. I can’t stand your greasy vibe.”
“It’s only been a few months, and already Mr. Luther has become quite the sight. Even the oil fields can’t compete,” she added. “Stop with the cheesy lines. They’re really off-putting. What are you staring at It’s time for us to ride the roller coaster. Are you in or out?”
Darren was beginning to suspect she might have broken his foot with that stomp. How could this heartless woman do such a thing and still act like nothing happened?
“If you don’t want to ride, just wait off to the side. Don’t block my view,” Natalie said before striding away without a second glance.
Darren hesitated for a moment, then charged after her, his expression dark with irritation.
Natalie thought, He clearly is annoyed, but who cares?
Natalie was having the time of her life. After getting off the roller coaster, she dragged him toward the haunted house, Excitement sparkling in her eyes,
Darren couldn’t help but snicker. He hadn’t been into childish stuff like this since he was three. Natalie is such a country bumpkin!
They stood in line for the haunted house, anyway. Inside, it was pitch dark. Just a few steps in, a woman screamed in pure
terror.

Chapter 78
Suddenly, Darren felt a spark of interest. He wanted to see Natalie embarrassed. It was probably her first time in a place like this, and maybe she’d get so scared she’d jump into his arms.
But then Darren noticed something. Natalie was gone. Frowning, he looked around, thinking, Where did she go?’
He started pushing through the crowd, trying to find her. Then, out of nowhere, two women rushed out of a small dark room beside him, grabbing his arms tightly. “There’s a ghost! Help us! We’re so scared!”
Their voices weren’t Natalie’s. Feeling annoyed, Darren hissed, Let go.
But the two women were clearly terrified, crying and clinging to him, refusing to let go..
Darren couldn’t shake them off. With a dark expression, he ended up dragging them along until they finally exited the
haunted house.
As soon as the light hit the two women, it was as if they were reborn. They turned to look at the random man they had grabbed, eyes sparkling with newfound appreciation
Even with half a mask on, it was clear he was the perfect guy. His tall frame, broad shoulders, and long legs dressed in a custom Armani suit made him stand out.
“Hey, handsome!” one of the women exclaimed first. “Thanks for saving us in there! If it weren’t for you, we’d still be stuck inside! To show our gratitude, we’d like to take you out for dinner!”
“No need.” Darren replied c**lly, surveying the area. His gaze suddenly froze.
Not far away, he spotted Natalie casually watching them. Just as he stepped toward her, he was stopped again by the two women. “Hey, handsome! Want to date?”
“No,” Darren frowned, his voice icy. “Move aside.
“Wait! Just a date, one of the women persisted.
Darren was genuinely fed up. “I came here with my wife, so can you please just go away?” With that, he byp**d them and headed straight for Natalie.
Natalie was leaning against a tree, enjoying the shade.
He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her, irritation in his voice. “Are you really just going to stand there while other girls flirt with your man?”
Natalie looked up at him with a teasing smile. “First of all, you’re not my man.”
Darren’s lips pressed into a tight line. He thought, As her ex-husband, why don’t I count as her man?
“Second,” she continued, “flies don’t buzz around a seamless egg. If you’re out here attracting attention, don’t blame me. If you know you look good, you should stay home. If you’re out, you clearly want to be noticed.”
Darren felt more frustrated.
She continued, “You may look annoyed, but I bet you enjoyed having two girls clinging to you, Mr. Luther.”
She certainly knew how to push his buttons.
Looking at her chattering mouth, he felt an intense urge to shut her up! Darren leaned closer, his voice dangerously low. Shut up! One more word and I’ll kiss you.
Natalie wasn’t fazed by his threat. “Don’t you dare be a pe**rt! know martial arts.”

He thought, ‘Ha! Martial arts? As if she’d say she could fly too.
Darren didn’t take it seriously. “Oh really? Then show me what you can do, tough girl.”
Natalie pointed her index finger at his chest, smirking. “Okay, today I’ll teach you a thing or two about how to behave.”
Just as Darren leaned in to kiss her, an urgent shout broke through the air. “Help! Someone has passed out!”
Natalie’s expression changed instantly, and she pushed Darren away, rushing forward.
Darren followed closely, curious about her urgency. He thought, ‘She’s not a doctor, so why is she running so fast?
People started gathering around. In the middle of a circle of onlookers lay an elderly man, around fifty, collapsed on the ground. His eyes were shut tight, mumbling incoherently. A nearby, woman was panicking, half-kneeling beside him, shaking him. Before long, the unconscious man suddenly vomited.
The woman screamed, utterly distraught. People surrounding them were pointing, some filming with their phones, others. calling for an ambulance.
Natalie tapped a person in front of her on the shoulder. “Excuse me, make some room. She wove through the crowd until she reaches the old man.
Seeing her approach, the distressed woman felt a glimmer of hope. “Please, help him! Can you save him?”
Natalie brushed the woman’s hands aside, speaking calmly, “You’re lucky to have met me.”
Darren thought, That phrase seems oddly familiar. He went stiff as memories rushed back.
