Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1065

As he approached the planet, Sylas’ thoughts re-focused themselves. He scanned the region with his eyes, but he honestly wasn’t sure how much he would see with them alone.

What he was looking for was actually quite specific: Rune Formations.

Going from planet to planet sounded easy enough, but there were other things to consider. An established world like one ruled by the Sylphs had a decent chance of having a blanket detection Formation over everything.

The skill it took to deploy such a formation was actually quite high, and the odds that the Sylphs had a Rune Master with such skill was, ironically, very low. The reason Sylas felt that there were good odds such a formation existed here was twofold.

For one, there wasn’t just one way of deploying such a formation. Sure, relying on a Rune Master made sense. But it was also just as valid to rely on a World Treasure of some sort—one that communicated with the Core of a World directly to coordinate and forge something like this.

And second… it had already long been established that the Sylphs were just pawns in this greater war—whatever this greater war was.

When taking this into account—especially given the fact that this was a planet that just might be at the center of everything related to the Sylphs’ machinations—Sylas was certain that such a formation would exist.

Unfortunately, knowing it was there and being able to do something about it were two different things. And so was actually finding it.

Sylas might have all the talent in the world, but he was still ultimately just an F-Grade Rune Master. The fact he could see E-Grade Runes and decipher between them and F-Grade ones at all was a miracle he took for granted. Such a thing might even be more impressive than reaching Rune Spark.

However, Sylas did have a trump card in his hands, and that was the very existence of the vessel beneath him.

The Thryskai.

They were the dominant Race of their galaxy for a reason, and their technology existed on a different plane entirely compared to everyone else. In addition, even if the Sylphs did receive external help to set this formation, the amount of help they could receive was most definitely limited.

The question was… was the help the Thryskai received better than the help the Sylphs received…

Or maybe, just maybe, they were one and the same.

There was a sudden flash from the vessel, and it slipped through.

Sylas’ eyes narrowed. ’Passed through undetected… no, almost undetected. They’ll definitely come and investigate this location in particular, but by then I’ll already be on the planet. The question is how good will they be at finding me.’

This was a gamble to be sure. If they had a treasure like the World Scepter he had sacrificed to pass the Summoning, there would be little Sylas could do to save himself. He would just have to wait for death.

The odds this planet had a D-Grade somewhere on it were decent, and worse yet, Sylas wasn’t anywhere near undefeatable even among weak E-Grades.

Sure, he had faced off against a mid-level 60, but that was under the constraints of the Level 30 Bazaar, and even if it wasn’t, there were still more than 30 Levels beyond that.
