Chapter 549: Psychological Biologies (2) [Bonus]

"What do you mean?" Sylas asked.

"Well... Clypsian women have periods of heat. Our bodies encourage us once it's mature to seek out partners. We test our men one by one until we find a suitable match. Only if the male's seed triggers certain changes in our bodies will we allow them to fertilize our eggs. We then allow the ocean to carry our eggs to term.

"Human women have these periods of heat as well, but they are much more frequent, coming once a month, whereas ours might only come once a decade, if that. As a result, they're also much more subdued and subtle, while ours are much fiercer; it practically consumes our minds and there's nothing we can think about other than copulation."

Sylas listened to this seriously. He could already guess where this was going and what the problem here was likely to be.

"When these two biologies clash, well... if there's anything the Human Race is good at, it's adaptation. Their biology is very good at fusing with that of others, and they are the Race that can copulate with the widest variety of other Races.

"My Clypsian Race cannot copulate with the Dogons. Even if there wasn't a hatred between us, our biologies wouldn't be able to produce a child 99 out of 100 times.

"But Humans can copulate with both of our Races, and the result is almost always the Human biology becoming the foundation. This not only makes the offspring weaker than fully fledged Clypsians and Dogons, but it also leads to some... undesirable mutations.

"The libido of female Half Clypsians is especially high. And those periods of intense heat, rather than coming once a decade or every few decades, come instead every month."

Sylas fell into silence. That would explain a lot of Tasia's habits. But...

"She's not a Half Clypsian, though?"

"Yes. If she did have Clypsian blood, it would be very dilute, probably only a sixteenth of her blood. I'm not 100% sure, but that should make things easier on her. But the intensity of a full-fledged Heat Cycle is quite high. Even if it's diluted by that degree, dealing with it once a month... would definitely not be ideal."

"It feels like you're leaving out a part of this story," Sylas said after a while. "Why would this be enough to cause problems?"

Sure, having a bunch of women in heat wasn't ideal. But it wasn't to the point of being the serious situation Nosphaleen was making it out to be.

"The other part of the story is male Clypsians. If female Clypsians are less selective than Humans, then male Clypsians are the vice versa of male Humans as well.

"Although male Clypsians can still impregnate many Clypsian women at once, they have a hierarchy of sperm cells as well. They can perform what we call an Alpha Fertilization just once a decade. This process is rare and it also requires ultra sensitivity.

"This is the one example where a female Clypsian won't expel her egg first, and instead allow it to be fertilized within her womb. Only then will she expel it into the ocean.

"Usually, a male Clypsian will be highly selective with the women they use their Alpha Genes on. But...

"Half Clypsians were found to have a biology that triggered this without the consent of the males. This was found to be because Half Clypsians don't expel eggs like full Clypsian women do."

Sylas finally understood.

Half Clypsians were weaker than full Clypsians, and they entered their Heat Cycle once a month on top of that. One could imagine that if these women were loosed amongst the male population of Clypsians, they would snatch up a large number of Alpha Fertilizations in a very short time.
