Cassarae was caught between two conflicting emotions.
On the one hand, she was pissed. Sylas shouldn't have done something like this without even speaking to her. Although she was smart enough to realize that that was the point-by
catching her off guard, he would certainly catch Gregory off guard-ultimately, it was definitely crossing over a line.
But on the other hand...
Damn, that was satisfying.
This asshole had been giving her nothing but trouble for months on end. At first, he had started off as a minor annoyance until he began to worm his way into every facet of her life.
It was getting to the point where she spent more time managing the internal structures of her city than actually expanding and capitalizing on their strengths.
The fact they were back in the top ten at all was a miracle. Though, the funding that her father and Sylas were able to provide were an enormous part of that.
But the other much larger reason was that despite her personality, Cassarae was very good at meeting people where they were. It was why she was accepting of Sylas' personality despite all the reasons it should have clashed with hers. It was why she had scolded Olivia for taking a private matter and using it as a reason to target Sylas for, albeit small, losses. It was also why she didn't hesitate to use Tasia even though she could see at a glance that she was pining after her man.
Now, though, that infectious cancer was finally dead.
The Sergeant and the Alchemist summons were still present, but without Gregory, Cassarae could already feel that they had lost much of their teeth.
Without having to worry about Gregory, his plans, and his schemes, things had suddenly become several times easier.
After a long while, Cassarae exhaled and gave Nosphaleen a glance. She had heard of this woman before, but she hadn't had a tail for legs before. It seemed that the competition had taken itself out.

BANG!
A man kicked at the back of a couch so hard that the wooden frame inside shattered to pieces and its body was sent flying into a wall.
The drywall broke apart, the studs behind it rattling and shaking down to the very foundation of the house.
"FUCK! ALL THAT WORK DOWN THE FUCKING DRAIN!"
He roared out to the top of his lungs, a violent swirl of Aether buffeting against the windows and sending them bulging and bowing in and out. If not for the fact they were somewhat reinforced thanks to the region of Guiz City he lived in, they would have long since shattered.
