The silence was heavy.
It didn't look like Sylas had done anything impressive. And yet, they felt shell shocked.
The solution should have been obvious to them all. They were all masters in their own right to even be able to afford to enter this city in the first place. So, they could obviously tell that Sylas was manipulating the Runes of the chain.
It was somewhat difficult, and it was impressive how smoothly he had been able to do it. But anyone on the Breath Master list would be capable of such a thing.
The chains weren't like the hidden Runes in the Secret Realm, they were similar to the beasts. Although they were constructed of Runes, they were designed to be manipulated as well. If all the Runes in the Secret Realm were locked down like the foundational ones were, then no one would be able to pass them at all.
However, in the midst of battle, to figure this out and then reverse the situation so easily…
It was then that they recalled something.
Sylas Grimblade.
He was a man of a Summoned World.
When they understood this, everything only seemed natural.
Contrary to what one might expect, not everyone in the universe spent their days fighting and battling. Most had already settled into established worlds and could live in relatively peaceful cities and live out relatively normal lives.
The situation of a Summoned World was far from them and most of them didn't know what it was like to spend your days with your life on the line.
Someone like Sylas, who managed to make it here after undergoing so much hardship… maybe he had already experienced far worse situations than the one they had just seen.
…
One of Sylas' clones stood to its feet and approached the beast. It was locked in place so firmly that it couldn't even wiggle in place, and with its maw pinned down by chains as well, it couldn't even snap its jaw at Sylas.
Sylas stepped onto its head and bent down, pressing a palm against its forehead.
Some thoughts swirled about in his head, and after touching the beast, he realized that he was correct in his assessment. It seemed that these people would have to eat a loss here.
A loss that would probably piss them off quite considerably.
But what did that have to do with Sylas?
The beast beneath him trembled and shattered into motes of light that were quickly absorbed into Sylas.
All at once, his clones snapped back together and radiated an even more powerful glow than they had before. He became a towering, imposing mass.
…
Mospheral sat in silence. It was a long while before a dark chuckle came from his lips, his eyes flickering with a dangerous light.
Sylas was more than right. In fact, he had understated it.
That Quasi Bronze Will was far more valuable than anything he wanted to trade for. In terms of Hero Point value, it was in the several trillions, almost a million times more than what Sylas had on hand right this moment.
The reason Sylas was able to absorb the Will was because, as he had deduced, it came from a similar branch of Runes as what he might expect from the Mancer Scape, or more accurately in this context…
The Beast Master Garden.
This Will was actually being prepared to be used in the upcoming event, but in order to test Sylas' limits, Mospheral had brought it out. What he didn't expect was that things would end like this.
There would be quite a number of people very unhappy with him, and unless he could fill in the losses himself, they would never allow him rest.
Sylas had forced him to eat a devastating blow, and he couldn't even say anything about it. In fact, not only could he not say anything… if this boy was even half as intelligent as he thought he was, he would have to compensate him on top of this loss already.
The dark chuckle continued to echo.
Worst of all, he still had no idea what Sylas' bottom line was. The skill he had used just now was something any young elite would be capable of if they had the battle experience and wherewithal to pull it off.
