Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 871

Sylas cut through the forest of gold with all the speed he could muster. His telekinesis wrapped around his body, his feet leaving deep trenches every time he stepped onto the soft soil.

Even as he ran, he wasn’t sure if he even had a solution to make use of. He had been by that pillar before, and there was a very good reason he didn’t try to investigate it further.

He couldn’t.

The Aether was too volatile. It would have shredded him apart the moment he tried to touch it.

Sylas had been in many dangerous situations before, all sorts of environments that wanted nothing more than to see him dead. Pits of lava, chilling cold blizzards, even storms of lightning recently. But none had ever filled him with as much a sense of danger as that pillar of light.

It was like its very presence was there solely to tell him that he was inferior, that it was beyond his means to deal with.

He had hoped that it was related to the Dungeon, that maybe it was hiding away the final BOSS and when the time came, it would disperse on its own to allow them to fight it.

But now, he was getting the feeling that he had been purposely naive… maybe because that was all he could do at the time. What other option did he have outside of just dying right then and there?

Sylas burst through the line of trees, feeling that his legs weren’t carrying him forward fast enough. All the thinking speed in the world still wasn’t granting him the solution he was looking for, but that didn’t stop his legs from rushing ahead, outpacing even what his muscles could withstand.

He stayed low to the ground, but every step still carried him forward tens of meters. Sometimes he had to forcefully use his telekinesis to bring himself back to the ground so that he could change position and avoid running head first into the thick trunk of a tree.

Deep in the depths of his green eyes, there was a sharpness that was only growing.

He had to succeed, no matter what.

The pillar closed in from the distance. It wasn’t very far from Casstle Main to begin with. Originally, it had been triggered after the war against the Terranova Government, or rather at least a portion of it.

Sylas came to a grinding halt, his gaze flashing.

His knees withstood a great amount of pressure, his telekinesis pulsing with life as he rolled to the side. A beam of light passed through where he had been. No, it wasn’t a beam of light, it was a spark of pink lightning.

He had seen this once before.

Lauren.

Sylas popped back to his feet in one smooth motion to find that there was a barricade around the pillar of golden light. He had no idea when it had appeared, but there were any number of moments it could have happened.

He had been so focused on dealing with the threat of the temples, and he had disappeared for hours at a time. It wasn’t a surprise at all that Legacy could have made a move while he was out of it.

"Leave. Now."

A commanding voice came from the distance.

Sylas didn’t listen to it.

His eyes scanned the region and he assessed it quickly. There were two others he could feel a similar pressure from compared to Lauren. He assumed immediately that these were two other Gold Legacy members.
