That is baffling!
Now the best portrayal of expression of Kate’s mental state is baffling.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about at all.” Kate doesn’t expect Luke to misunderstand even such things. Is she such a violent and ruthless woman to Luke?
“I don’t think the street racer people can take action without your orders and warn me not to approach you.”
Luke’s eyes makes Kate feel dazzling and makes her heart feel a little bit cold.
“Oh? You mean that I sent that man to attack you?” Kate put her head aside, but her tone is no longer as strong as before, and it sounds a bit like she did a bad thing.
“I can’t think of any other explanation. Or you can call that man out, don’t you take him away?” Luke looks around; there is no one but the two of them.
Kate shakes her head and says quietly, “Luke, then why I take him away instead of let him attack you, as you said.”
Luke frowns, “I don’t know then, shouldn’t you explain it?”
Luke is not a completely unreasonable person. But he is a man after all, and reason controls his behavior.
Kate also wants to explain, but how to say this. How should she let Luke know that members of the street racer attacked him because of jealousy of her fancy for him?
Kate moves her lips. She really cannot tell, and doesn’t want Luke to attack Duke after knowing the truth. After all, Duke does such stupid thing because of the admiration of her.
“What? Can’t tell anything? Do you want me to help with say it out?” Luke is already a little upset.
In fact, Luke also has feelings for Kate, but Kate’s hesitation words makes him feel that Kate is running away from him. He is in a bad mood because of the attacker, which dispels all his good feelings about Kate.
Kate is also angry, but when she looks at Luke’s face, her anger no longer exists anymore, she lowers her head and says, “Oh? What do you think?”
Luke wants to say that he knows the reason why Kate does such things because she wants to escape from his chasing, but he cannot say anything.
Luke seems to be gentle, but it also a kind of masculinity, and he would feel embarrassed even if he says that he is pursuing Kate.
So Luke freezes as well, and their expressions are surprisingly identical for both two of them.
Kate seats on the motorcycle, puts on her helmet and sniffs. “Hope you can trust me that I wasn’t meant to hurt you.”
Luke looks at Kate’s back, which is still beautiful. He licks his lips, and replies unconsciously, “I trust you.”
Kate feels relieved and turns the handle to start the motorcycle, and the roaring motor sounds in the alley.
“Nothing else?” Luke asks.
Kate just feels she becomes sultry inside of the helmet all of a sudden and she wants to tell him her thoughts in a moment and tells Luke that she is in love with him.
But Kate is still Kate, and she cannot tell no matter how hard she tries.
So the answer she leaves to Luke is just the roar of the engine.

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
