Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 126

After making sure Allison was sound asleep and wouldn't be causing any more chaos, Joshua quietly made his way to the living room. Their apartment had two bedrooms and a living room, but the spare room lacked a bed. So tonight, he'd have to crash on the couch. The night was quiet, offering a deep, uninterrupted sleep.

As dawn broke, the first light of day streamed in. Allison, a creature of habit, always woke up early and naturally, right on time. But today, she was greeted by the familiar thump of a hangover headache. Taking a moment to clear her head, she recalled bits and pieces of the previous night: a party with colleagues, followed by a few too many drinks at a bar. Her alcohol tolerance was low, and it didn't take much for her to black out. She vaguely remembered a guy showing up later, and she clung to him, rambling nonsense.

The thought jolted her awake, panic creeping in. What if Joshua knew about her drunken antics with another man? Would he be jealous? It wasn't his anger she feared; she just didn't want him to misunderstand and feel hurt. She cared deeply about his feelings and couldn't bear to upset him.

Throwing off the covers, Allison got out of bed and noticed she was wearing pajamas. When did she change? How did she even get home last night?

As she opened the bedroom door and headed for the bathroom, she suddenly spotted someone sprawled on the couch. A man lay there under a blanket, legs hanging over the armrest, eyes closed, his sharp jawline catching the light.

Joshua!

‘What was he doing here? Oh my god! Did he bring me home from the bar? Did he witness me with that other guy...?’ Allison racked her brain but couldn't recall the man's face at all. She's mortified, and couldn't begin to imagine how much Joshua had seen. How could she face him now?

Joshua slept peacefully, his posture almost too perfect, his face strikingly handsome. She was captivated. The quiet of the morning magnified the sound of her heartbeat. Seeing Joshua's tall frame awkwardly curled on the couch made her feel a pang of guilt. She moved closer, poking his cheek with her finger. He was lost in deep sleep and didn't budge. Summoning her courage, she pinched his cheek this time, and Joshua finally stirred.

He opened his eyes, blinking sleepily at her. "Hey Allie, you're up."
