Allison's heart finally settled down, and the blush on her cheeks faded. She cleared her throat strategically, trying to sound casual. "So, I'm a bit hungry. How about we order some breakfast?"
Joshua's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Weren't you just questioning if I had any issues in, you know, that department?"
Allison shook her head like a bobblehead, quickly pleading, "I’m really sorry. Joshua, I was just talking nonsense. There's definitely nothing wrong with you!"
Joshua's voice turned husky as he teased, "How would you know without trying?"
Allison bit her lip, looking down at her toes, the picture of contrition. "Anyway, I just know..."
Joshua chuckled. Allie was a bit shy, so he decided to let her off the hook.
Joshua didn't push it further and obediently ordered breakfast.
After they ate, Joshua brought up the plan to go to North Ridge Mountain the next day to watch the meteor shower.
Just as he expected, Allison's eyes lit up at the mention of a meteor shower, her excitement infectious. "I've never seen a meteor shower before! Let's go, of course! I want to bring Sabrina and Olivia too."
Joshua smiled and agreed, even though he secretly hoped for a romantic escape for just the two of them. But Allie loved having her friends around, so the more, the merrier for her.
Recalling the previous awkwardness between Lillian and Allison at the horse club, Joshua figured he should let Allison know that Lillian would be joining them this time.
After all, Lillian was his sister, and once Allison married him, she'd be like her sister too. It wouldn't do to let some past misunderstanding ruin their bond.
"Allie, my sister will be coming along for the hike tomorrow. Is that okay?"
Allison paused, "Lillian?"
