Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 147

"Sorry about that—I didn’t mean to drop the wine glass. Let me clean it up," Lillian said, crouching down to pick up the shattered pieces.

Her low-cut dress was hard to ignore, and Joshua quickly turned his gaze elsewhere, already sounding impatient. "Get up. Just head home."

As Lillian reached for the shards, she suddenly yelped. Her finger was cut, and bright red blood dripped onto the floor.

She stood up shakily, looking up at him with a pitiful expression. "Joshua, I got cut by the glass. Can you take me to the hospital?"

Joshua glanced at her wound, his face showing little concern. "There are band-aids and antiseptic at home. Just take care of it yourself."

"Can’t you take me to the hospital? It really hurts."

Joshua smirked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "By the time we get there, it’ll probably heal on its own."

...

The next morning, Emily couldn’t get through to Joshua’s phone, so she reached out to his assistant, John.

"Is Joshua busy?"

John replied respectfully, "Ma'am, he just wrapped up a meeting."

"I need to speak with him."

Joshua glanced sideways at John. "Grandma?"

John nodded and handed him the phone.

Emily’s voice was gentle, but firm. "Joshua, your sister’s really sick. She’s in the hospital. I’ll send you the address and room number. Find some time to visit her, will you?"

"Grandma," Joshua replied coolly, "If she’s sick, call a doctor. Why call me? I can’t make her better."

Emily took a deep breath, keeping her tone steady. "Just this once. She’s your sister, and visiting her in the hospital isn’t too much to ask, right?"

"Joshua, I know it’s my fault at the family dinner, and I apologize. Lillian was really ill yesterday, and when I saw her today... she looked so frail. It broke my heart. She misses you. Could you visit her, just for me?"

Hearing this, Joshua, who was usually strong-willed, relented. It was his grandmother, after all. He agreed to find some time to visit.
