The marks on Allison's skin and the smolder in her eyes made Shawn feel like he was on the brink of losing it completely. He could faintly sense the lingering scent of sex in the air. They had really did it. That realization nearly shattered him.
It was like a piece of his heart had been torn out, leaving a raw, bleeding wound, the pain almost unbearable.
“Allison,” Shawn croaked, his voice thick with tears. “Please, don’t be so cruel. How could you…”
‘How could you sleep with someone else?’ Those words were too painful to say out loud; even just thinking them sent a sharp stab through his heart.
In that moment, Shawn finally grasped just how deep his obsession with Allison had run. Never in his life had he felt so utterly broken and hopeless.
A tear slipped down his cheek, and he felt like he might just fall apart from the sorrow. The winter wind cut through the hallway, chilling him to the bone. Shawn stood there, eyes full of anguish as he looked at Allison. He looked like he might be swept away by the next gust of wind.
Allison's jaw was set, her face cold and her eyes blazing with anger. “Shawn, we agreed to go our separate ways peacefully. I left you with your dignity. If you keep bothering me, I won’t be so nice anymore!”
Tears shimmered in Shawn’s eyes, and the spot where Joshua had hit him was red and bruised.
“No,” Shawn’s voice broke. “Allison, I messed up. Please, please come back... I’m begging you, Allison…”
