Shawn's current behavior might not be due to his undying love for Allison; he could just be putting on a show, hoping to tug at Allison's heartstrings and get her to come back.
As for Kate, well, Colt's never really had much respect for her. Back when Kate knew Shawn and Allison were an item, she brazenly inserted herself into their relationship, willingly being the third wheel. That certainly didn’t say much about her character.
Thinking it over, Colt realized speaking up wasn't as tough as he'd imagined. With a casual, almost indifferent tone, Colt said, "It's probably because of Allison, you know. She's engaged now, and they seem pretty happy together. Shawn saw Allison and her fiancé in the old town last night, and it drove him nuts. He wandered around alone for hours before blacking out."
Colt let out a heavy sigh, looking as if he was truly bothered. "You wouldn't believe it. He almost didn't make it. If a passerby hadn't found him and rushed him to the hospital, we might have never seen him again."
After saying this, Colt sneakily glanced at Kate to see how she'd react. Her face went pale in a heartbeat.
She muttered, "All for Allison?"
Colt sighed again, "Yeah, it's the classic case of realizing what you've lost only when it's too late..."
Kate was shaking with anger, her voice rising, "Are you telling me he risked his life for Allison?"
A nearby nurse shot her a disapproving look. "Miss, please keep your voice down. This is a hospital."
Kate's face flushed with a mix of anger and embarrassment. She stormed into the hospital room, shoving the door open. "Shawn! What the hell is this about?"
Colt smirked, eyes twinkling with curiosity as he peeked into the room.
