Shawn trudged back to his new apartment, feeling utterly defeated. It was right next door to Allison’s place. He stepped into the shower, cranking the water to full blast, scrubbing his skin relentlessly. “Allison, Allison…” he murmured, rubbing his skin raw and red.
Tears mixed with the shower's steady stream as they rolled down his face. “I’m not dirty… If I wash it all away, I won’t be dirty. Please don’t think less of me…”

Allison returned to her room, her emotions in a whirlwind. The recording Shawn had just played was unmistakably Sue’s voice. Had she really been snatched away right under the police's noses? Why hadn’t Joshua mentioned this?
What was the urgent matter he talked about tonight? Could it really be linked to Sue? Allison tossed and turned, unable to find sleep. After much back-and-forth in her mind, she couldn’t resist dialing Joshua’s number.
The phone rang endlessly, with no answer. It finally disconnected on its own. For the first time, Joshua didn’t pick up her call. This only added to Allison’s turmoil. As she lay in bed, scenes from over a month ago played repeatedly in her mind. Sue's gaze at Joshua was so intense, almost obsessive. Sue saw them embrace and had charged at Allison with a knife, intent on ending it all.
How could love drive someone to such madness? Could ten years of unrequited love really push someone to murder? Was there more to the story?
