Shawn reached out to Jayden. "Let me have a look."
Jayden handed over the phone without a word. Shawn held onto it tightly, watching the birthday video on repeat, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably.
Grant's face was like thunder. "Seeing you like this just boils my blood! How could you be so weak!"
Cindy pulled at his arm. "Seriously, you're just going to make it worse! What do you mean, 'weak?’ Didn’t our son pull in an investment for the company? If it hadn't been for Shawn, we'd have been bankrupt ages ago!"
Grant clamped his mouth shut, casting a long, hard look at Shawn before turning on his heel and leaving the room.
Kate couldn't handle watching Shawn obsessively replay Allison's video anymore and decided she needed to leave, too.
"Son, forget her. I'll find someone better for you," Cindy said, wiping her tears. Her voice was thick with emotion.
Colt sighed deeply, "Shawn, there's a saying, plenty of fish in the sea. Why hang yourself on one tree? I can find whatever kind of girls you're into."
Shawn stayed silent, eyes glued to the video.
Jayden shook his head with a sigh. "Let's just give him some space."
"No way!" Cindy insisted, "I can't leave him alone again. What if he tries to hurt himself again?"
...
Peyton's bone marrow transplant went off without a hitch, no signs of rejection. Her life was saved, and Allison could finally focus on other things.
She'd been swamped with prepping case materials and running back and forth to court hearings.
Allison knew about Shawn's spiral into despair, and how he'd tried to take his own life, which made her avoid staying at the Lakeside Residences apartment.
Joshua had found her a new townhouse, just a few miles from the law firm, making for an easy commute.
On Saturday, Allison hired a housekeeper to help pack and called in a moving company.
