After finishing up at Emerson Corporation, Joshua made his way straight to the estate.
In the basement, Joshua stood several meters from Lillian.
"Joshua! Joshua, you finally came to see me!" Lillian cried out, her voice raw and desperate as she tried to run toward him. Her voice was hoarse and grating, almost terrifying in its intensity. But her hands and feet were bound to a nearby iron gate, leaving her with no dignity, like a pet tied up.
Joshua furrowed his brow, the air around him thick with tension. "Who gave you permission to call me that?"
Lillian paused, a bitter smile tugging at her lips. "Why can't I call you that? Would you rather I call you brother?" Her expression twisted with a hint of mockery. "I can call you brother, too; you're my favorite brother."
Joshua's frown deepened. "Do you even know what you're saying?"
"Of course, I do!" Lillian shouted, her voice cracking. "I like you! I love you, Joshua! Can’t you feel how intensely I love you?"
"Are you wondering why I did all those things?" Lillian laughed through her tears. "Ha, it's all for you, Joshua! After all these years, haven't you realized how I feel?"
In the dim basement, the amber glow revealed the madness and obsession in Lillian’s eyes, her long-hidden desires laid bare. After she spoke, silence descended, stifling and absolute.
Joshua, tall and imposing, stood over Lillian, his gaze icy and detached, exuding an aura of cold disdain. The faint scent of blood lingered in the air.
After a moment of silence, Joshua suddenly let out a laugh. "Love me?" His deep-set eyes were like an unfathomable abyss.
