Chapter 74 

Allison didn’t want to spoil the vibe, so she pushed aside her worries and flashed a bright smile, praising Paige’s cooking skills. 

Paige lit up. “Allie, you wouldn’t believe it! Mr. Fisher has been here so many times, always eager to watch me cook.” 

Hearing that, Allison turned her misty eyes toward Joshua, her voice a bit thick with emotion. “Why did you come here to learn how to cook?” 

Joshua’s expression softened, and his voice was gentle. “To cook for you.” 

Allison’s voice carried a hint of confusion. “Why?” 

Joshua turned to meet her gaze with warmth. “When Savannah passed away, you weren’t eating well, I was worried about you.” 

The mention of Savannah cast a shadow over Paige too, and she sighed deeply. 

After a pause, Paige chimed in, “After your mom got married, I fell ill, and the doctor told me to take it easy. So, I quit my job and went back home. Later, when your mom was in the hospital, I visited several times. That’s when I met Mr. Fisher. He was just a teenager back then.” 

Paige glanced between them. “Mr. Fisher truly cares for you. When he saw you refused to eat because of grief, he came to learn cooking from me. He’s a quick learner. 

“Later, Mr. Fisher would visit me occasionally. He even found a doctor for my illness and covered all the medical bills. He said it was the tuition for his cooking lessons.” 

Allison suddenly remembered something, her eyes widening in disbelief. “The meals the housekeeper brought after Mom passed… were they from you?” 

“Yes.” 

That simple word touched Allison’s heart. 

A few days slipped by in the brisk October air. 

Today, Shawn was dressed to impress for an auction. 

One of the items up for grabs was a pink diamond necklace, rumored to be from the British royal collection. He planned to win it as an engagement gift for Shawn’s cousin. 

Kate, all dolled up, accompanied him to the auction. 

As soon as they arrived, Shawn spotted Allison. She was with the guy he’d had a run–in with before. 

Shawn approached, his face clouded with annoyance. “Allison, what are you doing here?” 

Allison had been chatting with someone who quickly excused themselves when Shawn came over. 

With Joshua by her side, Allison replied coolly, “What else? I’m here for the auction.” 

Kate sauntered over, her voice dripping with disdain. “You? At an auction? What could you possibly buy?” 

Shawn shot her a sharp look, irritation etched on his face. Reluctantly, Kate held her tongue, though a dismissive snort slipped out. 

Her gaze then landed on the man next to Allison, and she froze. This guy was strikingly handsome, exuding sophistication. He’s dressed in high–end attire, and wearing an insanely expensive watch. 

Plus, his whole aura screamed power and authority, making even the dashing Shawn seem like a mere shadow in the background.
