Chapter 98
Javier nodded, “Whenever you’re free, I can introduce you to some of my connections and help you get some case referrals.”
Allison understood Javier’s intention to help expand her network, so she agreed. “Sure, how about next weekend?”
Lizzy
came bouncing down the stairs with a big smile, hugging Allison’s leg tightly. “Allie, you’re back!”
Allison gently patted her head. “Yep, I’m back.”
Linda stood nearby, smiling as she asked Allison how she was doing and if she was settling in okay on her
own.
Allison didn’t snap back like before; instead, she nodded slightly. “I was just heading upstairs to grab something.”
“I think Allie seems different,” Linda said warmly. “Have you noticed? She seems much more relaxed with us
now.”
Javier nodded, relieved. “She’s grown up and not such a kid anymore.”
In her room, Allison changed into a fresh outfit and was about to do her makeup when she noticed something on the vanity table. It was a crayon drawing showing a happy family of four.
Allison paused, emotions swirling inside her.
It was a drawing by her little sister Lizzy, capturing their family. The figures on either side were Javier and Linda. The taller girl in the middle was Allison, and the shorter one was Lizzy.
Allison’s gaze lingered on the drawing, her eyes full of emotion, lost in thought. After a while, she rolled up the drawing and tucked it into a storage box.
With her makeup done, Allison headed downstairs to join the others as they made their way to the Fisher family’s place.
She wore a beige long–sleeved dress paired with white heels, looking elegant and composed–just the kind of look the elders would appreciate.
Lizzy was in a cute red dress. Her hair was styled in two buns with adorable red strawberry clips.
Allison and Lizzy led the way, with Javier and Linda following behind as they entered the Fisher family’s home.
Joshua came out to personally greet them.
Inside the villa, the Fisher couple warmly welcomed them. Lillian stood beside them, exchanging polite remarks. Allison’s eyes brushed over her, her face expressionless.
Dinner was lavish, clearly showing the Fisher family had put a lot of thought into it, with a table full of Allison’s favorite dishes.
After dinner, the two families settled around the living room sofas. With Allison and Joshua’s engagement just days away, they needed to iron out some details.
Before Emily could start, Joshua suddenly spoke up, “Since we’re all here, there’s something I need to bring up.” Everyone turned their attention to him.
“Lillian, come here and apologize to Allison,” Joshua said, his voice cold.
Lillian’s eyes widened, her lips trembling.
Joshua’s grandma Emily frowned, her tone displeased. “Joshua!”
