The area, though undeveloped, was surrounded by the sea on all sides. They were likely approaching the edge of the island.
Juan already heard the waves crashing against the rocks.
"We can't keep going this way," Debra said, anxiety clear in her voice. "We're getting farther away from the production team."
But Juan was more concerned with something else. He bent down to touch her ankle.
Debra flinched. "What are you doing?"
"Let me check your ankle."
"There's no need."
"We don't have much time to rest. If those killers catch up with us and I don't know the shape you're in, we're both screwed."
Debra fell silent, seeing the truth in his words. Juan went on to remove her shoe. Her ankle was swollen and red, needing immediate attention.
He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a bottle of ointment.
"That's not from the show's supplies, is it?"
"I brought it myself."
"You were expecting this?"
"I'm not as unprepared as you are."
Juan squeezed someone ointment onto his palm.
"That may hurt a little."
"I can take it."
"Okay."
Juan started massaging the ointment into her ankle. Debra bit her lip, refusing to utter a sound.
"You can cry out."
"It doesn't hurt."
Juan glanced up at her, clearly unconvinced. As he pressed down harder, Debra couldn't hold back a sharp inhale.
"Are you doing this on purpose?"
