Then, Taya had never come to find Jackson again. Jackson had been sent abroad for Alpha training by his elder brother. 

Jackson was gone for three years, receiving all of the training necessary to learn pack politics and laws, both domestically and internationally. Then he received word that he had to come home and take over as Alpha because his brother had died.
