It was the first time Millie was insulted, so she teared up as well. “You’re a crazy woman, Elaine! Can’t you see what this b*tch is up to?” 

Elaine sneered, “I can see what you’re up to, though. You wanted to pour that wine on me, didn’t you?” 

Millie felt a twinge in her heart under Elaine’s piercing gaze. 

Millie definitely wanted to do that to Elaine, but she didn’t dare to. Thus, for a while, she and Clifford acfed in the same way, using Zendaya as a replacement. After all, there were no consequences for them to pick on Zendaya. 

Upon noticing Millie’s guilt, Elaine directly said, “Apologize.” 

“What?” Millie was taken aback. 

“Apologize to her. What’s the matter? Can’t you understand human language?” Elaine stood with her arms crossed, exuding an aura of someone not to be trifled with. 

Zendaya looked up at Elaine in surprise and saw the latter’s strong back, which gave her an immense sense of security. 

Overwhelmed by Elaine’s overbearing demeanor and the scrutinizing gazes from those around her, Millie couldn’t bear it any longer. She immediately turned to Clifford with an aggrieved look. 

Clifford really couldn’t understand why Elaine was once again defending Zendaya. Seeing that Millie was on the verge of tears, he furrowed his brows. 

Clifford said to Elaine, “Why are you still so temperamental? It’s just a minor issue.” 

As soon as Clifford finished speaking, he saw Zendaya suddenly look up at him. 

A pang of guilt struck his heart, and he couldn’t bring himself to meet her gaze. Did I hurt her with my words? Well, I can’t be blamed for this. It’s her fault for being uncooperative! Besides, she’s incomparable to Millie in 

s of status. 

Standing next to Zendaya, Isabella could feel the resentment radiating from the former and cursed in her mind. 

Before that moment, Isabella didn’t think much of Clifford’s employing a replacement. Since Clifford wasn’t really taking advantage of Zendaya, Isabella merely saw him as a narcissist, a delusional and arrogant fool in denial. However, Isabella couldn’t help but feel that Clifford’s true nature was simply intolerable after hearing what he said. Even though Clifford can offend Millie without worrying about the consequences, it is clear that he still has a hierarchy in his heart. Even if he has feelings for Zendaya, deep down, he looks down on people without status or background. Since there were no consequences making her aggrieved, it didn’t matter to him. In fact, standing up for her would only bring trouble upon himself. It seems that the gap in values between those friends is enormous. My Alexander is still the best. 

Alexander was listening to Isabella’s complaints and dissatisfaction with Clifford’s actions. However, when Isabella suddenly slipped in that last comment, it caused Alexander’s mind to short–circuit, halting all thoughts. He looked at Isabella with a warm feeling in his heart. His thoughts are probably the only odd one out in that tense situation.

Listening to Clifford’s response, Elaine was so furious that she chuckled. 

Then, she shrugged, “I’m glad we broke up back then. always knew we weren’t compatible.” 

That hit Clifford’s sore spot, and he scowled. “Elaine, you…” 

“Shut up. It’s none of your business.” Elaine cut him off directly. 

Clifford was so enraged that his body trembled.

Elaine then turned to Millie with dissatisfaction and said, “When you’ve done something wrong, you should admit it. Why are you hiding, acting as if I’m the one bullying you?” 

“Elaine, don’t take things too far.” 

“So, you’re allowed to bully others, but they can’t do the same to you?” Elaine scoffed, “Also, I’m not bullying. I’m just upholding justice.” 

Unable to hold back any longer, Millie lashed out, “Elaine, you’re a fool. Can’t you tell or are you just pretending not to? She’s your replacement, an imposter trying to replace you. Why are you even defending such a lowly person? Don’t you realize how she’s been using her resemblance to you to charm Mr. Clifford? How else do you think a lowly worker like her managed to stay by Mr. Clifford’s side long? You should be teaching her a harsh lesson!” 

Elaine immediately fell silent, turning back to look at Zendaya. 

While it was a well–known fact, having it stated outright was too awkward. Zendaya, faced with Elaine’s gaze, grew nervous. Suddenly, a strong emotion surged within her. She didn’t want to be disliked by Elaine but understood that anyone would find their imposter irritating. 

Thus, she thought Elaine would be plenty merciful already if the latter didn’t loathe her enough to slap her. 

Zendaya certainly didn’t expect Elaine to show her any kindness, let alone speak up for her. 

That said, she felt it was a pity things might likely proceed the way she imagined. She and Elaine resembled each other, and the latter had been so friendly toward her. She thought Elaine was wonderful and felt a special fondness toward the latter. Elaine might’ve been out of her league, but she wondered if they had met in a different way, maybe they could have become best friends. 

After the passing of her parents, Zendaya never felt so strongly about wanting to be family with someone until she saw Elaine, even though she had been so independent and didn’t want a boyfriend. 

“Um… Well… I never intended to replace you, let alone seduce anyone. I just…” Zendaya was so flustered that she didn’t know what to say. 

If it weren’t for the non–disclosure agreement, Zendaya would probably have wanted to shout out that she was employed by Clifford, Sadly, I can’t help her to reveal that fact when I was supposed to be in the dark about everything The most awful person here is Clifford. Even though he spent that money, he acted as if he had forgotten about it, which is absolutely maddening. I hope Elaine won’t misunderstand Zendaya. Isabella sighed. 

Elaine was taken aback, then smiling resignedly. “Whether it’s true or not, I suggest you pick someone else. This man’s no good 

Isabella smirked. Wow, I’m growing more and more fond of Elaine’s personality. Indeed, Clifford just isn’t worthy of
