"GAYOON HYUNG, I swear I wasn’t slacking off— I really gave it my all when I was trying to break the barrier. I guess you’re just really on a different level."
Ki Gayoon ignored Yang Youngjae’s excuses since he didn’t really care about anything else but Noh Yuno’s safety at the moment.
He should figure it out himself that he only has half of his Core now.
"Stay here," Gayoon said sternly when Yang Youngjae tried to follow him. "Tell Baekho to bring Kang Dabin to Woonhak Hyung."
Yang Youngjae gave him a salute even if he didn’t have to. "Yes, sir."
Gayoon ignored the weird salute and went straight inside the mansion.
After hearing what Lucca said earlier, he didn’t walk in there recklessly. He actually covered himself with Mana that served like a shield.
To his surprise, it wasn’t the only thing that protected him.
[Esper Ki Gayoon-nim, the System will give you a reward.
We will cover you in a nullifying shield that will protect you from the Anti-Esper fragments scattered in the mansion. However, we can only do this for thirty minutes.]
Thirty minutes?
That’s plenty of time to kill a single person.
And Gayoon was talking about the man standing in front of the grand staircase.
"It’s an honor to finally meet you, Esper Ki Gayoon-nim—"
The man wasn’t able to finish his stupid spiel because Gayoon already closed the distance between them— aiming to punch the bastard in the face, his fist covered with Mana.
He would usually just use his psychokinesis in a fight.
But, for some reason, he felt the urge to punch the man in the face.
Of course, he knew it wouldn’t be easy.
Gayoon’s fist hit a shield, breaking his fingers instantly.
But it wasn’t like it was going to stop him.
His self-healing abilities as a natural S-Class Esper quickly fixed his fingers, allowing him to punch the barrier again.
This time, long cracks all over the shield until it completely broke.
The man tried to jump away, but Gayoon snapped his fingers— causing a stone spear to emerge from the ground and impale the bastard on the spot.
Finally, his punch landed on the enemy’s face.
It was like punching steel, so Gayoon’s fingers broke once again.
Tsk.
He felt an ominous feeling coming from the bastard, so he was forced to jump away.
What a creepy bastard.
Gayoon’s instinct to move away from the bastard was correct since strange miasma oozed out of the enemy’s feet.
I don’t know what it is, but I know it would have fucked me up.
"This is no way to greet your brother-in-law, Gayoon-ssi," the bastard said while removing the stone spear that pierced through his stomach. He bled, but it seemed like he didn’t care about it. "Let me finish my introduction this time. I’m Erwan, and I’m the oldest among Noh Yihun’s siblings."
"What’s a ’Noh Yihun?’ That’s the first time I’ve heard of it."
Of course, Gayoon knew that the bastard was talking about Noh Yuno.
But there’s no way I’ll acknowledge Noh Yuno’s dead name that he hates so much.
"You can play dumb all you want, but that won’t change anything," that Erwan or whatever his name was said. "Gayoon-ssi, I’m here to fetch my precious younger brother. You know who I’m talking about, don’t you?"
"No, I don’t," Gayoon said coldly, increasing his Mana because he was ready to kill this piece of shit. "Go to hell, bastard."
I really don’t want to use this skill, but I want to kill this bastard whatever it takes.
Gayoon had three SSS-Grade skills that he had never revealed to the world yet.
One of those was to break bones and turn them into powder— whether the target was an animal or a human being.
After all, bones were mostly calcium.
And calcium is a mineral that I can control.
However, using an SSS-Grade skill would come with a big price— especially if Gayoon used it against a high-ranking Awakened People.
But I’m willing to take the risk just to kill this bastard.
Shit!
Ah, I see it now.
And that’s probably why he’s confident to face me.
***
Otherwise, Bambi-ssi wouldn’t fabricate a lie saying that I’m a spy sent by my E-Class siblings to betray the country.
Evil people like flocking together anyways.
To be honest, I won’t blame Haru-nim if he wants to kill me now.
"You haven’t changed at all, Yihun-ah," Sara said, sighing while shaking his head. "You take responsibility for everyone except us— your siblings."
Haaah.
"Why do you all keep calling me a traitor? That I abandoned you?" Yuno asked, tired that the siblings he cared about kept talking nonsense to him. "You were the one who abandoned me in the first place."
"Are you for real?" Bibi yelled, putting Yuno in a headlock as if she really wanted to break his neck. "You’re the reason why Father died! That’s what you did! If Father didn’t die, then we wouldn’t have—"
"Bibi," Sara said firmly. "Keep your mouth shut."
"Hmph!"
Finally, Bibi let go of Yuno.
Just in time for the Status Window to appear again.
[Guide Noh Yuno-nim, as you know, the System is weak at the moment.
We can only save two people.
Choose.
Save yourself and Guide Moon Noa-nim.
Or save Esper Ki Gayoon-nim.
If you choose to save yourself and Guide Moon Noa-nim, the System will send Esper Haru-nim here in this instant.
But if you choose to save Esper Ki Gayoon-nim, then...]
Yuno clenched his jaw tight.
This System is useless.
