Lilian nodded. She then rushed to Harvey and scolded him, “Have you heard it? Hurry up and be the hostage. It’s useless if such trash like you don’t be a hostage. You have been in the Zimmer family for three years now and we have given you food and treated you kindly. Now you’re taking us down with you. If you still refuse to be the hostage, I won’t let you go!”
Harvey looked cold, but when he saw Mandy’s pale face, his heart softened. Who asked him to fall in love with her hopelessly?
“Okay!” He took a deep breath and ignored Lilian. He walked toward Don and said lightly, “Don, I’ll be your hostage, let my wife go.”
Mandy was shocked. She looked at Harvey incredulously and said, “No, don’t come over…”
“Don’t worry, you’re my wife, and I will protect you.” Harvey smiled gently and walked to Don. He let Don hold the knife to his throat. “Now, you can let her go, right?”
Mandy felt her eyes watered a little. Although this man might not have great wealth and power and was useless, he was willing to take her place as the hostage.
“Mandy, are you okay?” Lilian ran over quickly. She looked Mandy up and down nervously.
“Mother, I’m okay. But Harvey, he…” Mandy let out a sigh of relief. However, she looked worried after glancing at Harvey, who was being held hostage not far away.
Lilian did not even look in that direction and said coldly. “Nothing will happen to him. Wait until Don’s anger has passed, then he’ll be alright. You should just stay out of it.”
“Mother, but…”
“It’s alright. He is the live-in son-in-law of our family. Didn’t we raise him for three years just for this moment? Why do you still care about him?” Lilian said coldly.
