Maxwell angrily flung the photos of them bullying Rose at the hospital right in their faces, seething with rage. "Have you seriously got nothing better to do than mess with a young doctor?"
Charlotte shrank back in fear.
Noah frowned. "Dad, did Ryan give you those photos?"
Maxwell snapped. "If Ryan hadn’t shown me these photos, I wouldn’t have known you’re still pulling stunts like this at your age! You..."
He jabbed a trembling finger at Noah, too angry to finish his sentence.
Noah hadn’t expected this incident to upset Maxwell so much. After all, he’d bullied plenty of nobodies before—this wasn’t anything new. Why was it such a big deal when it came to Rose?
He tried to smooth things over. "Dad, don’t get so worked up. She’s just a young doctor. I didn’t even lay a hand on her. And even if I had, it’s not a big deal."
Maxwell lost it. He glared at his son, his voice like ice. "You’re over fifty, and this is what you waste your time on? Acting like a fool over a woman?"
Noah glanced at Charlotte, whose face had gone pale, and argued back. "Dad, Charlotte is my wife. That Rose is incompetent. She made Charlotte’s condition worse. Of course I had to stand up for my wife. What’s wrong with that?"
Maxwell was shaking with anger. "She may be your wife, but Rose is Ryan’s wife. You go after her, and it’ll make this whole family a laughingstock. Have you ever thought about how this will only make things worse between you and Ryan?"
Noah was stunned. "Rose is Ryan’s wife?"
Maxwell shot Charlotte a cold glare. "If you dare go after Rose again, you can pack your bags and leave this family."
Charlotte kept her head down, saying nothing.
She had never imagined Maxwell would defend Rose like this.
Maxwell gave Noah a look of utter disappointment and muttered, "Married a useless wife. No wonder the family’s a mess."
Noah and Charlotte fell silent.
