Jared was clearly defending Agnes 

Laura retorted, “Well duh, it’s Agnes’ birthday. We’re throwing her a party so she can have a good time.” 

Some of the old timers from the Whitfield family were there too. 

Agnes went around giving them a nod and a smile. 

Then she saw Ryder again. 

He was standing behind Alyssa, all quiet and observant, like some kind of invisible stalker.
