Chapter 448
But then, Jared quickly shook his head and said, “We haven’t been intimate for 46 days, how could she suddenly be pregnant?”

Ivan replied, “It might be a bit difficult to have a kid now, but every difficulty can be overcome.”
Jared’s eyes revealed a plea for help, “Got any good advice?”
“Maybe, you could get Mamie to give her a bit of booze later?”
“That won’t work, her stomach’s not good. The moment she drinks, she’ll puke. Plus, she barely holds her liquor, one drink and she’s tipsy.”
“Then you could pretend to be drunk, that worked last time, didn’t it?”
Jared frowned, “Nope, she knows I can drink like a fish now. Plus, using the same strategy twice is likely to fail.”
“How about using your irresistible charms to seduce her?”
“I could consider that, but what if she doesn’t fall for it?”
And so, the two men with influence in the business world, who could sway the tide, began a heated discussion on how to woo their wives… Meanwhile…
Mamie caught up with Agnes.
She took Agnes to the balcony for a chat.
The view from the balcony was stunning, overlooking a large lake.
Looking out, the sky and earth seemed to blend as one.
Rarely could you see such sparse stars in the city.
“Has Jared been bullying you? If he dares, my brother and I won’t let him off,” Mamie began.
Agnes shook her head and gave a forced smile, “No, he’s always been nice to me.”
“Then why have things gotten to the point of divorce?”
Agnes helplessly replied, “Mamie, can you and Ivan not interfere? We’ll sort this out ourselves.”
All Mamie could do was sigh, “I don’t know what to make of you two. You finally got together after so much trouble. The obstacles I set didn’t tear you apart, but now, when I’m all ready to bless your everlasting union, you suddenly want to divorce.”
Agnes felt a pang in her heart too.
She didn’t know how things had spiraled to this extent.
Mamie said, “If you won’t talk about it, then don’t stay outside in the cold. Come inside and eat something.”
Agnes shook her head, “I’m full, I don’t feel like eating.”
Agnes truly had no appetite.
The food she just had felt stuck in her stomach, indigestible.
Mamie’s words made her feel even more nauseous.
Unable to hold it in, Agnes retched a few times.
Mamie anxiously asked, “Agnes, what’s wrong?”
Before Agnes could reply, she rushed inside.
She headed straight for the bathroom and threw up everything she’d eaten.
Mamie was alarmed, unsure of what had happened.
She quickly went to the dining room, got Agnes a glass of water, and hurriedly brought it over.
