Chapter 523
A female employee looked at Agnes with a sneer on her face, saying, “A ton of people want to meet our CEO every day. If we scheduled appointments for everyone, you’d probably have to wait till next year to see him.”
She rolled her eyes at Agnes after finishing her sentence, “Go home and come back when your appointment is ready.”
Agnes knew that the receptionists could only confirm appointments with the secretariat and couldn’t book them directly.
Not wanting to trouble the receptionists further, Agnes turned around and started making her call.
As soon as Agnes was a few steps away, the receptionists started gossiping, “Another one trying to see our CEO. These people think they’re hot stuff and try to get close to the CEO, dreaming all day of becoming Mrs. Whitfield.”
Another one chimed in, “Don’t you want to be Mrs. Whitfield? The CEO is so handsome, everyone wants a piece of him and the fame that comes with it. But throughout the years, he’s been with so many women, just for fun, never really liked any of them. That’s why we always have people coming in. Do they think that after a one–night stand, they have a shot at marrying him? There are too many women who’ve been with the CEO. If he were to be responsible for all of them, how many wives and lovers would he have?”
Another receptionist said with a hint of envy, “Even being one of his many women wouldn’t be too bad. The CEO is so aloof, don’t you want to know what it would be like when a man like him falls in love?”
An older receptionist chimed in, “Actually, the CEO wasn’t always like this. He was married once and adored his ex–wife. I heard she was unfaithful to him, and after the divorce, his personality changed and he started changing girlfriends like clothes.”
They were all shocked, “What kind of woman would leave a man like the CEO?”
The receptionists continued their discussion.
Agnes, not far away, heard their conversation.
She felt a chill in her heart.
Yesterday, Máriela told her about Jared’s messy personal life, and Agnes was somewhat skeptical.
But now…
Had Jared really changed because of their past?
Regardless, they were divorced. Legally, they had no connection, and there would be no future connection.
All Agnes wanted now was to find her grandmother and completely cut ties with Jared.
After some thought, Agnes dialed a number.
It was Jared’s personal mobile number.
Four years had passed, and Agnes had never thought about this string of digits.
But as she was dialing, she found that she remembered the number very clearly, as if it were etched into her brain. Suddenly, Agnes felt very nervous, her heartbeat quickening.
Had Jared already changed his number?
Or maybe Jared wouldn’t answer the call at all.
But the call was quickly picked up.
