Agnes was eating her soup when she heard Cilian’s words, and she couldn’t help but pause, her fingers frozen mid–air. 

Valeria glanced at Jared and said with a chuckle, “We haven’t nailed down the date yet.” 

Jared announced, “Valeria and I are getting engaged next month at Caesar International Hospital in Willowbrook Town. We hope you guys can take a break from your busy schedules and join us.” 

Cilian responded with a warm smile, “I see Valeria as my own daughter. I will definitely attend her engagement party, and I’ll bring a decent gift too.” A hint of sadness crept into Agnes‘ heart. 

Even though she knew it was true, hearing it straight from them made her feel a mix of emotions. 

Beatrice finally lost it and blurted out, “Jared, you’re really getting engaged?” 

Beatrice’s face was filled with disbelief, and there was a hint of tears in her eyes. 

Her outburst seemed a bit random. 

Rumor had it that she and Jared were having a fling. 

Especially after Jared went all out helping Beatrice at her birthday party a few days ago. 

Now, the word on the street was that Beatrice was Jared’s fiancée. 

Everyone’s gaze fell on Beatrice. 

Kevin teased, “Beatrice, it’s your sister getting engaged, but why are you so emotional?” 

Laura frowned and said, “Beatrice, sit down, stop making a scene.” 

Beatrice was furious. 

She had always believed that the engagement news was fake news, that Jared couldn’t possibly like Valeria. 

But now Jared had admitted it, right in front of Agnes. 

It was a fact she couldn’t change. 

Beatrice said, “You guys can’t get engaged.” 

Cilian frowned and said, “Beatrice, do you realize what you’re doing? Valeria and Jared’s engagement is their business, why are you butting in?” 

Beatrice knew that by doing this, she was risking breaking her image she had built over the years, but all she wanted was to stop Valeria and Jared from getting engaged. 

If that woman became Jared’s wife, she would lose all chances. 

Beatrice blurted out, “Do you guys know why I used to call him brother–in–law? It’s not because of Valeria, but because Jared was supposed to be my brother–in–law. He and my sister got separated because of a misunderstanding, and now they’re both here. I know he still cares about my sister the most, so I can’t stand by and watch them miss each other again because of their stubbornness.” 

Everyone was puzzled, but they quickly caught her drift.
