Leaving this place, and when Jared stepped into the banquet hall once more, he was holding onto Agnes' hand. The feeling was entirely different from when they initially entered.
It was as if they were aware of the countless challenges and dangers that lay ahead, but having this man by her side somehow transformed these obstacles into part of the scenery.
However, they couldn't escape the curious gazes of the crowd.
Agnes knew she had messed up today, but she had to face the outcome.
The banquet seemed to be nearing its end.
Jared led Agnes directly to Count and Countess Alexandra.
Jared spoke to them in French, and Agnes didn't understand. But his face was earnest, as if he was explaining something, or perhaps apologizing.
Finally, the gaze of Count and Countess Alexandra landed on Agnes, forcing a smile.
Valeria stood by Countess Alexandra’s side.
Countess Alexandra glanced at Jared, then turned to Valeria and said, "Valeria, Jared, I understand your situation, but I don't like being deceived. I can't entrust my representation to a business partner who is not honest. However, we are still friends."
Agnes felt a twinge of apprehension in her heart.
So, what Jared said was true. Valeria needed a marriage to further her career, but that was completely ruined by her and Jared today.
Valeria, on the other hand, simply smiled generously. "I understand, it was my mistake to hide the truth. I hope we will have the opportunity to collaborate in the future."
Countess Alexandra and Valeria hugged cordially.
Jared looked at Valeria, a hint of guilt on his face, but Valeria gave him a comforting look.
