There was Agnes, smiling.
With Jared around, If Yolanda were to confront Agnes, it might tarnish her reputation.
With no other choice, Yolanda handed Agnes her press pass from her pocket. "I've been looking for you. You're so careless. Lucky it was me who found this, or there would be some serious consequences."
Agnes took her press pass, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Thank you, Director."
Agnes looked up and met Jared's inquisitive gaze.
Jared asked, "Ms. Pritchard, how did you get in without your press ID?"
Agnes chuckled, "Well, I ran into a friend who got me in."
Agnes didn't want to lie to Jared, and besides, once the news broke the next day, Jared would be sure to know the truth.
Knowing Jared as she did, she knew his jealousy would not take this lightly.
So, she might as well confess now.
Jared's smile deepened. He asked, "Might this friend be Mr. Justin?"
Agnes could feel a cold shiver down her spine from Jared's teasing smile.
But she had to swallow her pride and say, "Mr. Whitfield, you're perceptive."
The atmosphere around Jared quickly turned tense. His gaze flashed dangerously.
Yolanda, standing to the side, wished she could tear Agnes apart.
She had finally found a chance to talk to Jared alone, only for Agnes to ruin it intentionally.
And what were these two even doing?
Finally, Jared turned around. "Why didn't you call me when you couldn't get in without your press pass?"
Agnes hurriedly answered, "I didn't have time, okay?"
Agnes' explanation was not at all convincing to Jared.
"So it's fine to be in a scandal with Justin, but the minute I'm involved, I'm treated like the plague? Agnes, I want an explanation."
Agnes was backed against the wall, literally and figuratively. She patiently responded, "I didn't have time to call you. When I was hesitating, Justin suddenly appeared and dragged me onto the red carpet. What could I do? I was pushed into a corner. Stop being so jealous."
Agnes cunningly shifted the blame onto Justin.
Jared leaned against the wall, looking down at Agnes with a stern gaze. It didn't seem like she was lying.
Jared's voice was filled with dissatisfaction, "What did that peacock say to you?"
