Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) novel Chapter 899

Agnes suddenly had an idea and pulled a chocolate bar out of her pocket.

She stretched out her hand and offered it, "You're Esther, right? Want some candy?"

Esther's eyes instantly locked onto the treat in Agnes' hand.

She looked curious, "Is candy sweet?"

Agnes chuckled, "Of course candy is sweet, here you go."

But Esther seemed hesitant, "They tell me candy is sweet, but I've never had any."

Agnes found it odd, kids her age usually love sweets.

Sure, candy can cause cavities, and kids shouldn’t eat too much. A little moderation is all it takes, though. If a child doesn't even know the taste of candy, isn't that a shame?

Esther approached Agnes.

Agnes unwrapped the chocolate and handed it to her, "Try this, it's chocolate."

Esther gazed at the dark chocolate, her eyes sparkling like stars, seemingly able to shine on their own. She carefully took the chocolate and placed it in her mouth.

The chocolate melted on Esther's tongue.

She exclaimed, amazed, "So this is what sweet tastes like, this is the best thing I've ever eaten."

Agnes watched Esther dancing around with joy.

It was a pity that this child had never tasted chocolate before. Perhaps her parents had sent her here from a young age for a reason.
