Jared stood in place for a moment before saying, "Let's go."
"Jared, there's something I need to tell you," Valeria suddenly spoke up.
Jared was taken aback, turning to face her, "What's up?"
There was a rare flicker of hesitation and struggle on Valeria's face.
In Jared's mind, Valeria had always been a resolute and decisive woman. She was never the type to hesitate on anything.
Jared had a gut feeling that something was up.
"Just spit it out," Jared urged. "What's going on, Valeria?"
"I'm sorry, Jared," Valeria began.
Her unexpected apology took Jared by surprise, but he quickly caught on.
Valeria knew quite a bit about his affairs.
Jared's voice grew heavy. "You have nothing to feel guilty about. The situation with Agnes has nothing to do with you."
After all, it was the whole drama with Berlin Thomas that ignited the tension with Agnes.
Agnes had taken Mr. Mansfield's defense of Berlin and laid the blame on Jared.
Jared had been in the dark about that incident initially.
But when he found out, he didn't inform Agnes right away.
He had considered Agnes' impulsive nature.
If she had found out that Berlin got off scot-free, who knows what she might have done.
But it was Jared's moment of hesitation that became the final straw that broke the camel's back in his relationship with Agnes.
