Olivia scoffed repeatedly. “Wasn’t that exactly what a maid was supposed to do? And I didn’t even do it well. Otherwise, why would I have been kicked out?”

A hint of coldness had seeped into her eyes and brows.

If he hadn’t mentioned it, she would’ve almost forgotten how humiliating it was when she was initially driven out of Carter Manor.

At that moment, Nathan realized he had said the wrong words. Just as he was about to salvage the situation, her phone rang.

Olivia took a glance at her phone, noticing a call from an unfamiliar number.

Under normal circumstances, she would typically not take the call.

At that moment, all she wanted was to leave as quickly as possible, so she took her phone and stepped out of the private

room.

“The moment the door shut, a shadow passed over Nathan’s eyes.

Olivia picked up the phone. “Hello, who is this?”

“Hey, pretty lady! It’s me, Harry!”

The sound of Harry’s voice echoed in Olivia’s ears, a little too flippant for her liking. Her brows furrowed slightly as she asked, “Is there something you need?”

“You just left me in this godforsaken place and vanished! What’s the matter? Don’t you care about your lover’s safety anymore?”

“Don’t spout nonsense!” Olivia chided softly, “He’s just my friend and boss!”

From the other end of the phone, Harry chuckled. “Is that so? Just friends, huh? That’s good then.”

A twitch tugged at the corner of Olivia’s eye. So, he called just to talk about this?

“By the way, how’s King doing?” she asked, swiftly changing the subject.

“He’s already awake, but he’s still a bit weak,” Harry said, his voice taking on a serious tone when it came to the matter at hand. “But with me here, there’s definitely nothing to worry about.”

Since he said there was no problem, there was undoubtedly no issue.

Relief washed over Olivia, a hint of a smile finally gracing her face. “Thank you, Harry.”

“Don’t just thank me with words. At least offer some sort of compensation.”

Just when she thought he had become serious, he returned to his flippant ways again.

“What kind of compensation do you want? Isn’t covering your medical expenses enough?” Olivia asked, her tone indifferent.

Upon hearing this, Harry immediately voiced his dissatisfaction by saying, “Pretty lady, you’re truly heartless! Apart from money, can’t you even afford to treat me to a meal? Besides, I’ve told you before that I’m not short of money.”

Even through the phone, Olivia could feel his intense dissatisfaction. Taking a deep breath, she said, “Having a meal together is all right.”

“Pretty lady, I genuinely want to be friends with you.”

Why does his voice sound aggrieved? Olivia couldn’t help but laugh out loud, her previously sour mood surprisingly lifted.

After interacting with Harry, aside from his somewhat flippant demeanor, he seemed to be a decent person. Moreover, he was capable of curing King’s illness.
