Chapter 264 I Know My Place
After leaving the private room, Lucas couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into laughter.
“Olivia, it was so satisfying to hear what you said just now!” Lucas wiped away the tears of laughter from his eyes before continuing, “Did you see the look on Emma’s face?”
He had initially thought she would just let things be, yet to his surprise, she turned the tables decisively before she left.
Just thinking about it filled him with delight.
In contrast, Olivia was calm, not nearly as worked up as he was.
As for the time she spent working as a housekeeper of the Carter family, she didn’t consider it as something to be ashamed
However, when Emma deliberately used this to belittle her, she simply couldn’t tolerate it.
Indeed, after saying what she said, she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders.
“Clearly, Emma came on purpose to mess things up for you,” Lucas said.
Olivia could also tell the same.
She pursed her lips, nonchalantly saying, “It’s okay. It’s just one less project, right? No big deal.”
Before attending the dinner party, she figured that securing an additional business partner domestically would be a good thing
However, even though the collaboration didn’t come to fruition, it didn’t have much of an impact on Horizon Ventures.
The same couldn’t be said of Aetherion Group. If their game’s bugs remained unresolved, it would gradually lose its appeal no matter how popular it was.
Nonetheless, this had nothing to do with her.
Lucas gazed at her thoughtfully for a moment, then finally asked “Did Nathan really break off his engagement with Emma?”
Olivia shrugged. “I guess so.”
v true.
Nathan had told her this, but who knew if it was actually
“If it’s true…” Lucas lifted his hand to stroke his chin, turning his head to look at her. His tone was half playful, half serious as he asked, “Could it be because of you?”
Upon hearing this, Olivia laughed and turned to look at him. “Do you think that’s possible?”
“It’s hard to say,” Lucas said with a smirk. Nathan was a deep thinker; hardly anyone could truly understand what was on his mind.
“You’re really overthinking this.” Olivia’s mouth curled up in a teasing smile. “It’s clear that it’s not because of me. I do know my place, you know.”
After she finished speaking, she felt an inexplicable sense of dejection.
She hastily took a deep breath, suppressing the sensation and quietly cautioning herself against indulging in such fantasies.
Lucas nodded in agreement, saying. That’s true.”
He was well aware of how ruthlessly Nathan treated her.
So it was implausible to think that Nathan would call off his engagement on her account.
