“What are you doing? Let me down!” Olivia’s voice trembled with shock as she struggled against the man’s grip.
However, her resistance was futile against the man’s strength. “I know you refuse to take a single step into this place, so now you don’t have to. You can leave after your wound is treated. But before that, at least think of Liam. Don’t let him worry about you. He’s injured, too. And his clothes are wet. He might catch a cold!”
His cold words felt like icy daggers piercing Olivia’s heart, leaving her speechless.
She stiffened up as Nathan carried her into the house.
A familiar yet subtly different scene greeted her when they entered the living room.
The place’s layout was essentially the same, although some furniture and decorations had been changed.
Certain items were no longer in their original spots. Only a few corners remained the same.
For example, the grand piano by the window walls, the priceless oil paintings hanging on the wall, and the two potted plants by the windows.
Memories of the past played through her mind like a classic movie playing in reverse.
Olivia’s eyes dimmed as she subconsciously tightened her grip on the man’s shirt.
Nathan noticed it but did not slow down his steps. He strode straight to the sofa with her in his arms.
-After placing her down, he pulled over a blanket and wrapped it around her. “Wrap up,” he said.
He then turned to the butler. “Mr. Frank, take Liam upstairs and change into clean clothes.”
Ever since he met Liam, the house had been filled with things for the little one, including a wardrobe full of clothes.
The butler responded, “Yes, Mr. Carter,” and took Liam upstairs.
Meanwhile, Nathan fetched the first aid kit to treat Olivia’s injuries.
“I can do it myself,” Olivia said coolly, moving her legs away. Her emotions were all over the place.
Ignoring her, Nathan brought out some cotton swabs and disinfectant. “Aren’t you in a hurry to leave? I’ll do it for you. It will be faster!”
Without waiting for her response, he lifted her leg and placed them on his.
His body warmth spread through his soaked dark trousers, causing Olivia to feel uneasy.
She was puzzled by the situation and felt it was ironic.
He chased her away, saying that she was dirty.
Yet why was he not disgusted now when she was covered with dirt?
Nathan knew what was going through her mind but ignored it as he continued to clean the wound.
