Chapter 223
vier to bring
There were still 22 days until the cooling att period ended. After that, Sarah likely wouldn’t need Xavier to bring her here anymore. By then, they’d be married, and she’d be free to come and go asshe wished.
Seeing them in the news was one thing, but seeing them in person was entirely different. Taking a deep breath, Lily kept her eyes ahead as she walked along the cobblestone path toward the villa.
“Ms. Joyner.” Sarah, quick to notice Lily, released Xavier’s arm. “You arrived just in time. Lunch will be ready soon.” Her tone made it sound as though she were the
lady of the house.
Lily stopped and tumed to face them.
hbold
Xavier, clearly the man of the house, stood next to Sarah with a calm, confident air. His slightly turned body radiated a sense of authority, which made Sarah bold enough to treat the house as her own.
Ms. Lynde, are you staying for lunch?” Lily’s eyes flicked over to Xavier with a complicated expression.
Sarah’s face faltered as though Lily’s question had put her in an awkward position. She bit her lip and glanced at Xavier.
“Of course,” Xavier said casually, stepping forward with deliberate strides.
He paused when he passed by Lily, turning slightly to address her. “The cooling off period… Do you think it’s appropriate for a soon–to–be ex–wife to casually enter her soon–to–be ex–husband’s home?”
He echoed her words exactly. Lily lowered her eyes, took the blood pressure medication our from her bag, and unexpectedly shoved it into Xavier’s hands.
He was caught off guard and gave a muffled grunt as he instinctively grabbed the medication.
“Since you’re my soon–to–be ex–husband, please let your family know the truth as soon as possible. They can contact you directly from now on,” she said with subtle intensity, her eyes unwavering.
Xavier felt a twinge of panic for a brief moment. She wasn’t jealous? His brows furrowed as his lips parted, about to speak.
“Lily, you’re here!” Edith appeared from the villa, her loving gaze fixed solely on Lily. Her blood pressure had been high these past couple of days, leaving her face flushed.
Lily was initially tempted to turn and leave, but her resolve softened when she saw Edith’s pale complexion.
She wasn’t a saint. She couldn’t force a smile and pretend to welcome Xavier bringing someone else back, but she wasn’t heartless either.
Edith had always treated her Idndly. She couldn’t ignore the potential danger to her health, especially now.
“Grandma, here’s your blood pressure medication,” she said, taking it back from Xavier’s hands.
Her motion was brisk, her nails scraping against the delicate veins on Xavier’s hand, leaving behind a faint red mark
Edith accepted the medication, noticing Lily’s rough handling. She peered closely at her hand. “How careless! Did it hurt? Come inside, let Emma get some alcohol
to disinfect İL”
“It’s fine,” Lily smiled, following Edith into the villa.
