Chapter 235
Despite being scolded, Lily didn’t appear overly upset. What bothered her more was that Xavier looked even worse. It was as if the scolding had been directed at
him
she chose to remain silent.
Standing a little further away, Timothy kept a low profile, hoping the tension wouldn’t spill over onto him.
The atmosphere became tense, so heavy it felt like the air had thickened. The senior executives were breaking out in cold sweat, looking at Xavier with confusion.
He was clearly angry, but what should they do? Should they evict the business from the mall, demote her, or impose fines? Any of those options would world But why wasn’t Xavier saying anything?
His deep eves were fixed firmly on Lily, the one responsible.
Finally, the executives spoke again. “Why are you still standing there? Call your husband over here!“”
Lily had to speak up, “I’m sorry, but I don’t have a husband. This is my first day here. If this gentleman is feeling unwell, he can go to the hospital for an examination. I’ll cover the expenses”
She only wanted to put an end to this awkward situation as quickly as possible. She thought this might give Xavier an easy way out. Even if he tried to extort her money, the situation would be resolved.
But before she could finish her sentence, Xavier grabbed her wrist tightly and began walking out of the mall toward the parking lot.
“Hey..” The senior executives tried to follow them.
Timothy quickly stopped them. “Let Mr. Fulton handle it himself. I’ll continue the inspection on his behalf.”
Reluctantly, the executives stopped and nodded in agreement. “Okay. Please go ahead.”
Xavier had switched to a new car–it was the latest model of the Cullinan. The interior was even more spacious than a Maybach, with a flat rear seat.
But no matter how spacious it was, it couldn’t hold up against Xavier, closing the gap between them and trapping her in the comer
Lily, who was only wearing a shirt, had her back pressed against the cold metal door.
“You don’t have a husband?” Xavier leaned in, bracing himself against the car door behind her, pulling her into his arms.
She had prepared herself for scolding or even extortion, but she hadn’t expected the question he threw at her.
Lily furrowed her brows. “What? Did you want me to tell them you’re my husband?”
ushe
It wasn’t that. It was that they were secretly married–so she wasn’t truly unwed. Xavier didn’t understand how she could so confidently claim to have no husband.
As he looked at her, the subtle resistance on her face only deepened his displeasure.
“I don’t mind you working here, but now you’re rejecting me?”
On closer inspection, Lily’s lips were slightly swollen. She must have been lossed too hard by Xavier the other day.
Maryanne saw the marks that night but chose not to mention them. She didn’t want to hurt herself even more.
The bite marks made her lips even more seductive. However, despite their allure, her mouth still seemed to choose the words Xavier didn’t want to hear.
