Lily was tired and hungry from all the cleaning. She placed two plates of pasta on the dining table and was about to dig in when Hazel stopped her and looked at her questioningly. 

Hazel’s stance made it clear that if Lily didn’t give her an answer, there would be no dinner. 

“No, we haven’t been in contact, but we did meet this morning,” Lily said honestly.

Hazel, one Lily had heard so often she was sick of it. She ignored Hazel and focused on her pasta, and it gave her a comforting

On Tuesday, Lily took the day off and went to the courthouse for her divorce. 

At 7:00 am, Hazel knocked on Lily’s door and asked, “Lily, don’t you have work today? Why aren’t you up yet?” 

“I have some matters to handle today.” 

Lily was already up, just not out of her room. She had some light makeup on and wore a long black dress. She layered a light beige down jacket over it, and she looked energetic and youthful. 

Lily opened the door and stepped out, tucking her driver’s license and passport into her bag in the entryway. 

“Why are you dressed so nicely?” Hazel was heading to the kitchen but glanced at Lily when she heard her leaving. She stopped in her tracks when she noticed something “What were you holding?
