"Take care of yourself." Hayden had much he wanted to say, but he condensed everything into those four words.
Lily knew he would continue to keep an eye on the child.
After sending off the grandmother and grandson, she and Hayden returned to the car, ready to head out.
Meanwhile, Jasmine stood there holding the bag of clothes and never gathered the courage to approach. She could only stand alone in silence and watch them leave.
…
On the way back to Aqua Sonata, Hayden suddenly remembered something. "Lily, why did you move out?"
Lily's grip on the steering wheel tightened, but she kept her tone casual. "To make it easier for you to get treatment, of course."
"What about Mom and Dad?" Hayden asked again.
"They've been busy with work. The New Year is coming up soon," she replied, not wanting him to know about the mess she had been dealing with recently.
She didn't want to burden him with the issues with Xavier or the fallout with their parents. Hayden didn't press further, but a strange look flickered in his eyes.
Rowan had mentioned that although Hayden had accepted the situation, he still needed time to process everything fully.
With two more days of counseling ahead, they hoped to wrap up the treatment and start the New Year on a positive footing.
For Lily, this was the best news she'd heard in months. So, she took Hayden to the supermarket, buying various ingredients for the evening celebration dinner.
Maryanne arrived in the afternoon. After having a quick chat with Hayden, she joined Lily in the kitchen to help prepare the meal.
The doorbell rang around 7:00 p.m. Lily went to open the door, and Terence stepped inside, bringing the cold winter air with him.
"Sorry I'm late," he said, shrugging off his brown wool coat.
"It's fine. The soup's not ready yet," Lily replied, heading back into the kitchen.
