Her Hidden Crowns (Suzanne and Austin) novel Chapter 229

A few people huddled together, whispering among themselves.

"Looks like she really slept her way to that contract."

"Wouldn't be surprising. She's gorgeous, and that design is solid. It makes sense that Mr. Young approved it."

"The heiress of Yates Corporation, selling herself just to land a deal. She really went all in, huh?"

"People will do anything to keep their spot in the company."

Suzanne simply glanced at them with an indifferent look, making no effort to explain. Trying to reason with people who thought on a completely different level was a waste of time. Besides, she couldn't care less about her so-called reputation.

Seline, however, took her silence as guilt. A triumphant glint flashed through her eyes. The contract being signed was a win for the company, and since she was the department manager, the credit would naturally go to her.

On top of that, Khalil had supposedly slept with Suzanne. Now, there was no way Jenson would ever look at her again.

This was a perfect two-for-one deal.

Excitement bubbled in Seline's chest, but she kept her expression composed. She let out a soft chuckle and turned to Suzanne with a seemingly concerned smile. "You worked hard for this, Suzanne. Don't worry, I'll put in a good word for you with Dad so that you can stay in the company."

With so many people around, she had to suppress her glee.

After offering those words of "reassurance", she quickly added, "Anyway, I'll let you get back to work. I need to head to my office."

Without waiting for a response, she spun on her heel and walked off briskly. She was afraid that if she lingered, she might not be able to hide her excitement.

Meanwhile, the whispers in the office made Tanya's expression darken. She bit her lip as she looked at Suzanne, hesitating for a moment before finally turning toward Seline's office.

In her office, Seline was in an excellent mood. She hummed a little tune as she strolled into her office. She plopped into her chair and spun in it lightly. A huge grin was plastered across her face as she admired her freshly manicured nails.

What a fantastic day.

The sudden knock on the door made her pause. Setting her coffee cup aside, she curved her lips into a pleasant smile. "Come in."

The door swung open, and Tanya stepped inside. Her fingers twisted anxiously in front of her, her expression uneasy as she stood hesitantly in front of Seline's desk.
