Without waiting for Frankie and Todd to ramble on, Suzanne and Shane had already left the Lloyd residence.
The moment they were outside and out of sight, Shane could no longer hold back. Clutching his stomach, he burst into laughter. "Hah! Oh my god, did you see their faces? It was priceless!"
No wonder Suzanne insisted on taking this job. Punishing scum like them was the most satisfying thing. And the best part? They still had to be grateful for her.
Suzanne shot him a warning glare before glancing back at the villa. "Keep it down. The show isn't over yet."
Shane immediately mimed zipping his lips, though his amusement was still evident. After making sure the Lloyds weren't following, he relaxed a little, but the grin never left his face.
He turned to Suzanne and gave her a big thumbs-up. "You really are something else."
A smirk played at the corner of her lips. "Their real troubles are just beginning."
She deliberately stressed the phrase, her tone laced with meaning. This was only the beginning.
In a good mood, she headed toward the car.
Shane watched her from behind, his gaze deepening. Suzanne was different now—fully focused on her own path and free from entanglements. He liked this version of her. And if he stuck with her, he was bound to succeed too.
Just thinking about it made him grin all over again.
…
Meanwhile, in the Lloyd residence, Todd remained seated, the excruciating pain still gripping his body. His face was twisted in agony as he looked at Frankie in distress.
"Dad, what am I supposed to do? Am I really supposed to sleep sitting up?"
The mere thought was torture. Tonight felt like the end of the world.
